We are all sinners. We have all done damage to each other. Repentance is good, but there is a lie embedded in this. It is that our actions have no consequences: from Social Matter’s best post combox.
Ahh…”damaged goods”……Whatever you are, that is precisely what you’re not. The best part of Christianity is that it accepts you for what you are – with your sorrows, guilt and sins. Sincere regret gives you forgiveness, and asks you to also forgive yourself. To call yourself “damaged goods” tells me you have not yet forgiven yourself, and that the healing process is continuing. If God has forgiven you, who are you to not forgive yourself?
[Lying to ourselves about the real permanent damage free will choices can cause serves no one. -Eds.]
It is better to say that we are all damaged. Undamaged we would be glorious. We are not.
The completed work of Christ will restore us at the end of time, if we are part of the kingdom of light. But the liars are not. They enslave us by the chains of our damage and shame, and demand that we worship a new God made in their image. They delight in their titles.
The author of the post (she is talking about the abortion she was coerced into when she was 19. At Cornell) replies:
I wasn’t actually talking about being “damaged goods” from the Christian perspective. From the Christian perspective I’m not “goods” at all. I was talking about trauma. I have to agree with Eds. I have a total inability to lie to myself, I hate lies, and I agree about “real permanent damage.”
My experience and my friends’ experience has been trauma, grief, and what is contemporarily called “depression.” This is a natural result. So that’s what I’m talking about when I say “damaged goods.” We’re talking about damage and destruction. That’s the nature of what we’re talking about.
Personal tragedy you can’t do anything about. Laws you can do something about. What’s the nexus between Planned Parenthood and Cornell- do they have a deal?
Also, I think what you see from this essay the weakness of the Catholic Church. What if it had been 1962 and I had said I was Catholic? They would have turned me over to a priest right away, the same way the police have to let you see your lawyer.
Amen to that. Our church is fallen: the men have been driven out by the feminists and their enablers. Catholics included: perhaps the Orthodox to a lesser extent.
And like the gammas they are, they snark, destroy, and undermine those who stand. Be not the preacher denying his sin, the wife leaving her marriage to service him[1], nor the cuckold defending the preacher.
Confess your sin, and deal with the damage done. Do not pretend you can rescue those who choose to walk away. It is time for battle, but not for white knights worshipping a feminine innocence that disappeared with the fall.
To be a knight of God you must destroy the white knight within you. #DeusVult.
- Sadly, it has moved from priests and ministers betraying their vows because a woman has seduced them, to, in their corruption, they are seducing our young men, as Milo would attest.
