I am going to not quote the full guidelines here, nor show all the diagrams. My college has just published this [1]: they have lumped all mood disorders together. Noting that there are psychotic symptoms, and trying to simplify treatment regimens.
This is their flowchart for depression, and yes, it includes ECT.
And this (which will be quite controversial) is the guideline for mania, and it does include the use of atypical antipsychotics in first line, and discusses psychosis and ECT.
The full document is about 100 pages. If you practice psychiatry, it will need study: if you know people with depression or mania it is worth acquiring from someone who has library priveleges.
