The foolish rabbit hole [Rev 21]

Well, there is a fight over at Goodreads, of all places. Some atheist called Sean is having a victory march, because he banned the Dreadilk from reviewing en masse… not realizing that there is a net outside of Goodreads.

It reminded me of an old proverb: a wise man likes correction and a fool despises it. I see this at work, frequently. The people I respect for their clinical judgement often question what they are doing.

So when we do our duty — which is to tell others that they are going down a path we followed further, but at the bottom there are monsters, stakes and a pit, don’t go further, turn back — we will be hated. But being hated means that we are doing what we are supposed to do.

Because this will end with there being no vile ones left.

And I saw no temple in the city, for its temple is the Lord God the Almighty and the Lamb. And the city has no need of sun or moon to shine on it, for the glory of God gives it light, and its lamp is the Lamb. By its light will the nations walk, and the kings of the earth will bring their glory into it, and its gates will never be shut by day—and there will be no night there. They will bring into it the glory and the honor of the nations. But nothing unclean will ever enter it, nor anyone who does what is detestable or false, but only those who are written in the Lamb’s book of life.

(Revelation 21:22-27 ESV)

We rely on the teaching of God for our hope. One could argue that we do not for our salvation, because that is not words, but a painful, tortured death on the cross from our LORD, and by that death we are redeemed, and by his resurrection we are ensured of triumph. But it is his promise to those who follow him that he will not let us fall from his grasp that we rely on.

As Christ was hated, so will we be by the fools, who want to live in their delusions, in rabbit holes of their making. But this life is greater than the hells they make and call spirituality.

So do not be silent. If your warnings bring one person to repentance, then heaven will rejoice.
