Shunning and Stoning [Deut. 13]

Pastors are accountable, and that accountability used to be lethal. In the law, the Torah, if you are a prophet and you lead the people away from the LORD and to other Gods you are to be killed: if you are a member of the congregation and you become apostate you are to be executed.

For apostasy is an evil not to be among them. So the multiculturalists, those who see all religions as equal and all cultures as equivalent, would be placed against the wall.

In Christ we are not Jew or Greek, true. Our culture and faith is of Christ: and those who would restrict it to one tribe or another are in error. But the heretic needs to be cast out.

We should not stone, for there is a place for repentance. But we can name, we can call out, and we can shun.

“If a prophet or a dreamer of dreams arises among you and gives you a sign or a wonder, and the sign or wonder that he tells you comes to pass, and if he says, ‘Let us go after other gods,’ which you have not known, ‘and let us serve them,’ you shall not listen to the words of that prophet or that dreamer of dreams. For the LORD your God is testing you, to know whether you love the LORD your God with all your heart and with all your soul. You shall walk after the LORD your God and fear him and keep his commandments and obey his voice, and you shall serve him and hold fast to him. But that prophet or that dreamer of dreams shall be put to death, because he has taught rebellion against the LORD your God, who brought you out of the land of Egypt and redeemed you out of the house of slavery, to make you leave the way in which the LORD your God commanded you to walk. So you shall purge the evil from your midst.

“If your brother, the son of your mother, or your son or your daughter or the wife you embrace or your friend who is as your own soul entices you secretly, saying, ‘Let us go and serve other gods,’ which neither you nor your fathers have known, some of the gods of the peoples who are around you, whether near you or far off from you, from the one end of the earth to the other, you shall not yield to him or listen to him, nor shall your eye pity him, nor shall you spare him, nor shall you conceal him. But you shall kill him. Your hand shall be first against him to put him to death, and afterward the hand of all the people. You shall stone him to death with stones, because he sought to draw you away from the LORD your God, who brought you out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of slavery. And all Israel shall hear and fear and never again do any such wickedness as this among you.

(Deuteronomy 13:1-11 ESV)

There is a place, you see, for violence, and it is around the correction of such errors. Now, I am not recommending a revolution, but instead a reformation. I am not wanting to stone those who have fallen into compromise, who now preach tolerance instead of the gospel, and who now worship the spirit of this age.

I’m not saying we should stone them: the law is now dead: we have Christ. But we need to correct. We need to hurt their feelings. At times we have to cast them out, for they are trying to lead others to a false idol. And we do that in the hope that the Spirit is within them, still, and they will return in tears.

For godly grief produces a repentance that leads to salvation without regret, whereas worldly grief produces death. For see what earnestness this godly grief has produced in you, but also what eagerness to clear yourselves, what indignation, what fear, what longing, what zeal, what punishment! At every point you have proved yourselves innocent in the matter. So although I wrote to you, it was not for the sake of the one who did the wrong, nor for the sake of the one who suffered the wrong, but in order that your earnestness for us might be revealed to you in the sight of God. Therefore we are comforted.

And besides our own comfort, we rejoiced still more at the joy of Titus, because his spirit has been refreshed by you all.

(2 Corinthians 7:10-13 ESV)

We must not forget that this time is mad. The Socially unjust want a revolution, and want no one to tell them they are in error. The idea that we discipline and remove those who are heretical or perverse or ungodly: that the adulterers, the thieves, the gossips and the slothful are confronted is seen as hate speech, and living a sober, quiet and godly life as oppression.

As if this is not new. If we have not tried to reset to Year Zero, and failed. Frequently.

We now live in a world in which we are required to believe lies, where telling the truth is condemned as “hate,” and where strangers feel qualified to diagnose you as suffering from an irrational “phobia” if you refuse to cooperate with their political agenda.

What we see hear, despite the huge accumulation of evidence [and bodies of the murdered in the name of Revolution] over several French Revolutions and the reign of the Totalitarian [and, never forget, Revolutionary] Napoleon, is the refusal by the French to accept that Revolutions are always Evil in their effect on the Society experiencing them. They are a curse on the Souls of those who work to bring them about and implement them and maintain them, and they are the cause of the widespread martyrdom of an ever-growing number of Innocents.

But here is the most important point regarding Madness and Revolutions: One of the results of the increase in Madness due to Revolutionary movements is that the Mentally Ill and Deranged find a welcoming home in said movements. And they find this welcoming place because to be a Revolutionary one must first let Madness rule your Soul:

I have a quibble with the author of the camp of the Saints and with R S McCain. I don’t think it is madness you need to let into your soul, as much as evil. I know too many who are mad. I have seen their courage, and it shames me.

But most of the mad find in truth a comfort, and in correct guidance a way to live. They know they are broken. To call them well, healed, whole, and a model of how to live (pace that pervert Foucault) is not merely a lie, but cruel[1], as the various things my trade can do to help such is denied to them.

The elite of this age have rejected the beautiful, the true, the good. They have done this because they refuse to acknowledge there is a God in Israel, or that Salvation has gone from the Jews to all nations, or that there is an accounting to come.

They worship instead at the modern versions of the tumbrel.

And those within the church who suggest we join them need to turn from that error. For this elite will fall, and great will be the destruction. Do not be them in this life: and definitely do not count yourself among them when you face the judgement to come.

1. R.S McCain was referring to the press praising Bruce Jenner for appearing as a transwoman (he is too old to really go the whole way, Those with primary Gender Identity sometimes can, but they still die by their own hand post op at far too high a rate) in Vanity Fair. The guy is troubled. His family is imploding. I have sympathy for the pressure that has been put on him, and how he has been outed. But this parade of the broken, praising those who have fallen, is inherently cruel. Jenner is not, to these bastards, a person, but a symbol. etherized, for their banners and billboards.

  1. I have trouble feeling sorry for those who want us to join in their delusions, by catering to them. I believe in shattering delusions, not enabling them.
