The Unitarians are a warning [Mark 12]

One of those odd observations. I have seen, over and over, that those groups who are heretical, within the church and without, love clerical garb. The Scientologist supporting families in enquiries when I was a junior trainee wore a dog collar. The liberal ministrix in the local liberal Presbyterian congregation (there is only one) wore alb and vestibule as if she was an Anglo Catholic priest.

As if the costume was more important that the content.

They want reform, they want change, and they want the protection of the congregation while they subvert it.

“It scares me.” Towson Unitarian Universalist Church’s #BlackLivesMatter banner vandalized a 6th time

Mark 12:35-44

35While Jesus was teaching in the temple, he said, “How can the scribes say that the Messiah is the son of David? 36David himself, by the Holy Spirit, declared,
‘The Lord said to my Lord,
“Sit at my right hand,
until I put your enemies under your feet.”’
37David himself calls him Lord; so how can he be his son?” And the large crowd was listening to him with delight.

38As he taught, he said, “Beware of the scribes, who like to walk around in long robes, and to be greeted with respect in the marketplaces, 39and to have the best seats in the synagogues and places of honor at banquets! 40They devour widows’ houses and for the sake of appearance say long prayers. They will receive the greater condemnation.”

41He sat down opposite the treasury, and watched the crowd putting money into the treasury. Many rich people put in large sums. 42A poor widow came and put in two small copper coins, which are worth a penny. 43Then he called his disciples and said to them, “Truly I tell you, this poor widow has put in more than all those who are contributing to the treasury. 44For all of them have contributed out of their abundance; but she out of her poverty has put in everything she had, all she had to live on.”

Piety is not appearances. It is not fashionable. It is not supporting the causes of this time. False religion is far worse than no religion: I have more time for Roosh, who will tell you that sleeping with a few thousand women has ruined him, and he would have been better to have wed one, or Milo, who goes to confession after a night in the local gay nightclub.

They know they have sinned.

I have more time for the local hookers than the liberal priestesses, for the hookers know they are wounded. Getting them out from under that trade, which some people within those downmarket pentecostal churches do, is worthy and pious.

I’d rather worship with the T shirt and jeans crowd who use amplifiers than a group that sings bach perfectly but has lost compassion.

The Unitarians are a warning. They have left Christ. They are dying. Do not be like them.

Better, do not be them.

  1. One day, I intend to quote Dr. Johnson’s comparison of women preachers to dogs walking on their hind legs to one. A woman preacher, that is; not a dog walking on its hind legs. Although if I see one of those, I’ll tell it, too. 😉
