Eli, was a righteous man, but his sons were scoundrels and they thought they could inherit the priesthood, and continue the traditional worship site of Shiloh. But God cannot be mocked. If you dishonour God, you will fail and fall. This applies as much or more to institutions and political systems as it does to people.
Eli was a descendant of Phineas, the son of Aaron and he had inherited this post. But there were other priestly lines.

I will build him a sure house, and he shall go in and out before my anointed one forever. 36 Everyone who is left in your family shall come to implore him for a piece of silver or a loaf of bread, and shall say, Please put me in one of the priest’s places, that I may eat a morsel of bread.’”
Scripture is given to us for our reproof and correction and training in righteousness. The House of Eli was about to fail and fall and the glory of the LORD departed from Israel leaving but one descendant — Ichabod. The ark of the covenant was captured by the Philistines.
But the spiral into evil and irrationality continues in this world. The Islamists have rejected the gospel, as have the left, and they are now signalling virtue by increasing their evil and their lies. The irrationality of players putting Hitler and hatred of the jews with communism (most of the Bolshevik cadre, like Trotsky, were born Jewish and rejected both Moses and Christ). makes me think that they are putting their fingers in their ears and singing REEEEE.
The Antifa is akin to the hard left of the Democratic Party, who consistently lose elections. They see the mass of the population as bigots to be controlled by their cadre.
