A long retreat hurts

Blogging this morning i happening between getting two grandchildren & daughter off to school and looking after the three month old, who is sitting with me while i type left-handed.

i chose this test as  in the last day the signs of distress in the US hsve worsened.  The occupy movement has a set of incoherent and contradictory goals. The mainline politicians are doing no better.

LAMENTATIONS 2;13b — 15
To what can I liken you, that I may comfort you,
O virgin daughter Zion?
For vast as the sea is your ruin;
who can heal you?
14 Your prophets have seen for you
false and deceptive visions;
they have not exposed your iniquity
to restore your fortunes,
but have seen oracles for you
that are false and misleading.
15 All who pass along the way
clap their hands at you;
they hiss and wag their heads
at daughter Jerusalem;
“Is this the city that was called
the perfection of beauty,
the joy of all the earth?”

Lamentations is ascribed to Jeremiah, who adviised Istreal that their time had passed, and they had to submit to their new masters. I am afraid the same thing is happening in the West. There is no question, from where I live, that China is ascendant right now… the demographic fragility that Mao caused by destroying three generations has not hit. Yet. The generations before the one child policy are still alive. England and the British Commonwealth has lost its reach:Australia and New Zealand cannot fund the bribes (sorry aid) that China can in the Pacific, and now are in free trade agreements with the Chinese. Not with the US.

And the EU, like the US, is faltering. The politics that their leaders have told the population are correct and true — have seeds of destruction. They have sown the wind, and are reaping a whirlwind.

But…. this hurts ordinary people.  Who are lost, confused, and without guidanve.

This is a time for subversion. It is a time for the church to again form an alternate serise fo supportive communities. Small. Local. communities of faith to frank communse (known as monasteries). We need to build the shelter or asylum for those who are going to be abandoned by the state as it starts a long retreat away from welfarism, driven by the colosal amount of debt most nations have.

But let’s not pretend. This is a depression, and it is going to be painful.
