Down in the sewer with the scum all are [Col 2]

Last night I was putting together an essay and improving my markdown skills. The idea was that the liberal post christians and post jews align with the Muslim because they care about this world and this world alone, worshipping the sacred within creation. And not understanding that such is fallen, and ruled over by Satan.

As such, the religious are more damned than the sinners. The sinners know that they do wrong. If offered salvation, they can see a need for it. The religious consider that they are enlightened, leaders, with vision. They see no need for an incarnation, for they see no need for salvation. That is for the scum.

But scum we are. We are all fallen. The law shows us clearly that we are not righteous, and we should not consider that our discipline of mind and body can bootstrap us to salvation.

Colossians 2:8-23

See to it that no one takes you captive through philosophy and empty deceit, according to human tradition, according to the elemental spirits of the universe, and not according to Christ. For in him the whole fullness of deity dwells bodily, and you have come to fullness in him, who is the head of every ruler and authority. In him also you were circumcised with a spiritual circumcision, by putting off the body of the flesh in the circumcision of Christ; when you were buried with him in baptism, you were also raised with him through faith in the power of God, who raised him from the dead. And when you were dead in trespasses and the uncircumcision of your flesh, God made you alive together with him, when he forgave us all our trespasses, erasing the record that stood against us with its legal demands. He set this aside, nailing it to the cross. He disarmed the rulers and authorities and made a public example of them, triumphing over them in it. Therefore do not let anyone condemn you in matters of food and drink or of observing festivals, new moons, or sabbaths. These are only a shadow of what is to come, but the substance belongs to Christ. Do not let anyone disqualify you, insisting on self-abasement and worship of angels, dwelling on visions, puffed up without cause by a human way of thinking, and not holding fast to the head, from whom the whole body, nourished and held together by its ligaments and sinews, grows with a growth that is from God. If with Christ you died to the elemental spirits of the universe, why do you live as if you still belonged to the world? Why do you submit to regulations, “Do not handle, Do not taste, Do not touch”? All these regulations refer to things that perish with use; they are simply human commands and teachings. These have indeed an appearance of wisdom in promoting self-imposed piety, humility, and severe treatment of the body, but they are of no value in checking self-indulgence.

Be careful of the traditions. Not all that is spiritual will lead to salvation. A fair amount of it is delusion. And expect not the progressives to discern this, for they have rejected God, and are now incoherently stupid.

Democratic House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi met with exiled Tibetan spiritual leader the Dalai Lama at his temple in Dharmsala, India, on Wednesday along with other U.S. representatives and told a gathered crowd they will “not be silenced” in the face of Chinese oppression, The Associated Press reported.

At times, Pelosi stumbled over her words: “What we see here today in support of the Tibetan people, we have said, what we say here, we have said to the top leadership in … the Chinese government.”

She mentioned actor Richard Gere, a Buddhist who supports the Dalai Lama and “speaks out for the Tibetan people.”

The most curious part of her speech came when Pelosi said she wouldn’t delve into the “brutal tactics of the Chinese government,” which rules Tibet.

Her reason?

“His Holiness prayed for me that I would rid myself of my negative attitude about dwelling on the negative too much,” Pelosi confessed to the crowd.

The California politician has called herself “a devout, practicing Catholic,” yet her staunch pro-choice position on abortion stands in opposition to the church.

It remains to be seen if the Dalai Lama’s supplication on Pelosi’s behalf has indeed done the trick.

It is not our negativity that damns us. It is our actions. It is turning too much to how one feels and not considering how one acts. The other reading today noted that it is out of the overflowing of the heart that we speak and act, and thus we show what we are.

Without Christ, we are evil. With Christ, glorious. Choose Christ.
