Fully human, fully brothers [Heb 2]

Why did Christ have to be human? Why did he have to suffer?

Why does our God play by the rules? The demon called Allah does not. The Muslim theologians consider that any rule or limitation is a restriction of his sovereignty, and that every second, every instance, occurs by the will of Allah. There is no predictability, there is no consistency. The very contradictions in the Koran show that Allah is like man, that he can change his mind and he can repent.

It was not to do with God that he became incarnate. It was to do with us. We are taught that to be brothers and sisters of Christ, Christ had to be fully human, and taste that bitter cup to its dregs.

Hebrews 2:11-18

11For the one who sanctifies and those who are sanctified all have one Father. For this reason Jesus is not ashamed to call them brothers and sisters, 12saying,
“I will proclaim your name to my brothers and sisters,
in the midst of the congregation I will praise you.”
13And again,
“I will put my trust in him.”
And again,
“Here am I and the children whom God has given me.”

14Since, therefore, the children share flesh and blood, he himself likewise shared the same things, so that through death he might destroy the one who has the power of death, that is, the devil, 15and free those who all their lives were held in slavery by the fear of death. 16For it is clear that he did not come to help angels, but the descendants of Abraham. 17Therefore he had to become like his brothers and sisters in every respect, so that he might be a merciful and faithful high priest in the service of God, to make a sacrifice of atonement for the sins of the people. 18Because he himself was tested by what he suffered, he is able to help those who are being tested.

It is worth noting that those who want eternity now or heaven to be now have to destroy humanity to get it. They have to become post human. There is a reason why those who were human who are eternal, in all our myths, are damned. That the post modern shed their bodies, or become cyborgs. That the subcreated species of our fiction are monsters, be they Orcs, Aliens or Frankenstein.

We cannot bring ourselves to heaven by our own doing. And Christ was able to bring us to him. If there was another way for us to be made perfect the cross would not be needed.

But there is not, and it is.

Only through this can we be within the divine kingdom and of the divine family.

For all else, there will be purification and true justice, and it will be terrible.

Deny the narrative. Choose Christ.
