The righteous gentiles? [Ruth 2]

I am contrasting the current neighbours of Israel with one of the most righteous gentiles, the great grandmother of David.

One can see why Israel is vehemently the enemy of Persia.

Iran’s supreme leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei has called for the “complete liberation” of Palestine from the “tumour” of Israel, renewing his regime’s refusal to recognise Israel’s right to exist.
Ayatollah Ali Khamenei was speaking at the sixth international conference in support of Palestinian intifada (uprising), one of a number of showcase events the Tehran authorities organise in solidarity with the Palestinians.

“This cancerous tumour, since its start, has grown incrementally and its treatment must be incremental too,” Khamenei said in a speech broadcast live on state television.

“Multiple intifadas and continuous resistance have succeeded in achieving very important incremental goals.

“It continues to advance towards its other objectives, ultimately the complete liberation of Palestine,” he added.

The Islamists consider the destruction of Jews to be a righteous act and a holy rite. Those of us of Christ should not relax: they have the same attitude to Christians. Contrast Khamenei who has power and wealth with Ruth, who is so poor that she is gleaning the fields, placing herself at some risk of harassment. And note this: Boaz knew her story but had not met her til this day.

>Ruth 2:1-13

1Now Naomi had a kinsman on her husband’s side, a prominent rich man, of the family of Elimelech, whose name was Boaz. 2And Ruth the Moabite said to Naomi, “Let me go to the field and glean among the ears of grain, behind someone in whose sight I may find favor.” She said to her, “Go, my daughter.” 3So she went. She came and gleaned in the field behind the reapers. As it happened, she came to the part of the field belonging to Boaz, who was of the family of Elimelech. 4Just then Boaz came from Bethlehem. He said to the reapers, “The Lord be with you.” They answered, “The Lord bless you.” 5Then Boaz said to his servant who was in charge of the reapers, “To whom does this young woman belong?” 6The servant who was in charge of the reapers answered, “She is the Moabite who came back with Naomi from the country of Moab. 7She said, ‘Please let me glean and gather among the sheaves behind the reapers.’ So she came, and she has been on her feet from early this morning until now, without resting even for a moment.”

8Then Boaz said to Ruth, ”Now listen, my daughter, do not go to glean in another field or leave this one, but keep close to my young women. 9Keep your eyes on the field that is being reaped, and follow behind them. I have ordered the young men not to bother you. If you get thirsty, go to the vessels and drink from what the young men have drawn.” 10Then she fell prostrate, with her face to the ground, and said to him, “Why have I found favor in your sight, that you should take notice of me, when I am a foreigner?” 11But Boaz answered her, “All that you have done for your mother-in-law since the death of your husband has been fully told me, and how you left your father and mother and your native land and came to a people that you did not know before. 12May the Lord reward you for your deeds, and may you have a full reward from the Lord, the God of Israel, under whose wings you have come for refuge!” 13Then she said, “May I continue to find favor in your sight, my lord, for you have comforted me and spoken kindly to your servant, even though I am not one of your servants.”

What Boaz did then is an example for the male half of the species, and a rebuke to those who virtue signal.

  1. He placed her under his protection. She was to follow the women of his staff (household)and the men were instructed to leave her alone
  2. He ensured she gleaned (got) enough grain.
  3. He told her she could drink from the water they had carried to the fields for the harvest
  4. He acknowledged she had left all her family for Israel and God, and praised her for it
  5. He did not take her into his household, but returned her to Naomi, her mother in law.

We know the end of the story, Boaz married Ruth and took the inheritance of Naomi s family, and from that came Jesse, and David. This was local work. it was practical. it was not trumpeted around.

And it was effective. Do likewise, and leave the virtue signalling and the orchestrated pearl clutching to the fools.
