Light, not dark. [I John 2]

The last few days I have been worried about the violence of the left. I do look at the newspaper (electronically) as well as the text when putting this together. One thing is clear: the left run on hatred.

Their secular Jerusalem will only be filled with those who believe correctly. Who duckspeak, wo doublethink, who continue the meme of the day and the talking points of the day. Which change arbitrarily.

Their embrace of Islam should not shock anyone. Islam believes they will mould a heaven on earth when Islam alone rules, and the correct form of Islam. The Islamic theology exalts power, seeing God as arbitrary and the whatever he does as right, and us as his minions.

Both of these are lies. Both of these are demonic, and both lie in the darkness.

1 John 2:3-11

3Now by this we may be sure that we know him, if we obey his commandments. 4Whoever says, “I have come to know him,” but does not obey his commandments, is a liar, and in such a person the truth does not exist; 5but whoever obeys his word, truly in this person the love of God has reached perfection. By this we may be sure that we are in him: 6whoever says, “I abide in him,” ought to walk just as he walked.

7Beloved, I am writing you no new commandment, but an old commandment that you have had from the beginning; the old commandment is the word that you have heard. 8Yet I am writing you a new commandment that is true in him and in you, because the darkness is passing away and the true light is already shining. 9Whoever says, “I am in the light,” while hating a brother or sister, is still in the darkness. 10Whoever loves a brother or sister lives in the light, and in such a person there is no cause for stumbling. 11But whoever hates another believer is in the darkness, walks in the darkness, and does not know the way to go, because the darkness has brought on blindness.

We have to be careful here. Love is now being used as an excuse for all sorts of behaviour. It has been sexualized — to the point where those who live chastely are now told that they are evil, and the degenerate told they are good.

Love is more than romance, and I’m not knocking romantic love. It is precious.

Love is to act and do in the other’s best interests: the word here is not eros, but agape. Anyone married knows agape trumps eros, for at times you have to say no — the budget cannot afford that Gucci bag or gaming computer (they seem to cost about the same amount), None of us live in Hollywood, and those who act there know it is fake.

I know I sin. And I know that it hurts those I love. One of the reasons marriage is a holy institution is that we get immediate feedback on our actions and attitudes: for good and for ill.

The left deny there is sin except in societal structures, so they call it privilege, denying autonomy, or hope, or change. Or love.

And love is to build up, hope, and pray when your brother is in error. Not to scream at him, shame him, deny him a family and companionship, and be violent (either directly, as in the antifa, or indirectly, via child protection or the police).

The left runs on hatred and owns the narrative. They have declared their hand: they do not care for law or truth or beauty. They care for power. Do not be them. Do not be like them.
