The fight is ideological and mimetic [Eph 6]

Yesterday someone asked in the combox who are we fighting, for he thinks society is stacked against us. There is a partial truth within that. The elite of our society have abandoned God and moved towards a cybernetic form a cybernetic form of Catharism, where we will be post human, eternal and perfect.

They approve of our emotions only when the lead to the destruction of beauty (Islamists are useful here) righteousness (Gay activists) and truth (the academic and legal activists). There must be freedom of speech for the narrative, and as truth, beauty and righteousness are not part of the narrative, they must be called hate speech or false news.

They worship an ideology: their methods are emotive, using rhetoric and memes.

And the battle we face is to turn people to Christ, and to raise a Godly remnant.

“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him. Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only Son of God. And this is the judgment: the light has come into the world, and people loved the darkness rather than the light because their works were evil. For everyone who does wicked things hates the light and does not come to the light, lest his works should be exposed. But whoever does what is true comes to the light, so that it may be clearly seen that his works have been carried out in God.”

(John 3:16-21 ESV)

Finally, be strong in the Lord and in the strength of his might. Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the schemes of the devil. For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the cosmic powers over this present darkness, against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly places. Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand firm. Stand therefore, having fastened on the belt of truth, and having put on the breastplate of righteousness, and, as shoes for your feet, having put on the readiness given by the gospel of peace. In all circumstances take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming darts of the evil one; and take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God, praying at all times in the Spirit, with all prayer and supplication. To that end, keep alert with all perseverance, making supplication for all the saints, and also for me, that words may be given to me in opening my mouth boldly to proclaim the mystery of the gospel, for which I am an ambassador in chains, that I may declare it boldly, as I ought to speak.

(Ephesians 6:10-20 ESV)

Why do we care? Because it this time, the elite have abandoned God and all that is good. They care only for their ideology: they may call it freedom but it is either neo-conservative empire building or neo-liberal “politics of identity”: what older generations would call vote farming.

We care because Christ came to the world not to damn us but to save us, and these ideologies do not allow for the possibility of guilt, repentance or salvation, damning us all.

We care because there is a generation to come.

So let us be gentle to those who fall and are fallen. Let us teach, again, how to defend yourself from the wiles of the sophist, who sees nothing but rhetoric and power.

And let us preach truth and do good. Our enemies have cannot make laws against this, lest society itself implodes.
