Some theology today: the coming of the LORD is a da to be waiting for. May Christ indeed come again: for those of us who are of the faith it will be the end of our struggles and time for a true judgment and true rejoicing, as the mercy of God is shown to us.
May that time come.
But for those who are not of Christ it is a day of fear, for true justice is terrible. Before that harsh light all our acts are akin to filthy rags. We will all be found guilty.
To the enemy, it is aday of defeat, a day to be feared, and he rages, for he knows his time is short.
“Behold, I send my messenger, and he will prepare the way before me. And the Lord whom you seek will suddenly come to his temple; and the messenger of the covenant in whom you delight, behold, he is coming, says the LORD of hosts. But who can endure the day of his coming, and who can stand when he appears? For he is like a refiner’s fire and like fullers’ soap. He will sit as a refiner and purifier of silver, and he will purify the sons of Levi and refine them like gold and silver, and they will bring offerings in righteousness to the LORD. Then the offering of Judah and Jerusalem will be pleasing to the LORD as in the days of old and as in former years.
“Then I will draw near to you for judgment. I will be a swift witness against the sorcerers, against the adulterers, against those who swear falsely, against those who oppress the hired worker in his wages, the widow and the fatherless, against those who thrust aside the sojourner, and do not fear me, says the LORD of hosts.
“For I the LORD do not change; therefore you, O children of Jacob, are not consumed. From the days of your fathers you have turned aside from my statutes and have not kept them. Return to me, and I will return to you, says the LORD of hosts. But you say, ‘How shall we return?’
(Malachi 3:1-7 ESV)
Be patient, therefore, brothers, until the coming of the Lord. See how the farmer waits for the precious fruit of the earth, being patient about it, until it receives the early and the late rains. You also, be patient. Establish your hearts, for the coming of the Lord is at hand. Do not grumble against one another, brothers, so that you may not be judged; behold, the Judge is standing at the door. As an example of suffering and patience, brothers, take the prophets who spoke in the name of the Lord. Behold, we consider those blessed who remained steadfast. You have heard of the steadfastness of Job, and you have seen the purpose of the Lord, how the Lord is compassionate and merciful.
(James 5:7-11 ESV)
If that snake Lucifer rages his minions fear this day, for they will indeed converge. In hell. The second death will be terrible and there will be no salvation from that. They know that they do wrong and they know that they will die and face account. But this is unbearable. So they push their guilt onto useful others: the whites, the Christians, the Jews: those called of God, or indeed those who jmerely function al little better.
The politics of identity is a method of projection guilt elsewhere.
In this time, the spirit of this age is that of the enemy. THis has been the case since the fall: it will continue until Christ returns. Every act of good we do, everything that is beautiful, true, noble and upright opposes this spirit and will be opposed by those who have given up and surrendered to the evil of this time. They will have their sins: colonialism, racism, sexism. They will measure these by the hurt of a wailing wall of professional victims.
Ignore the teaching of such. Instead Troll them. The offense they have may lead to the word, the word to godly sorrow. godly sorrow to repentance, and repentance to Christ.
And Christ is merciful to all, for all have sinned and fallen short of the glory we were made for.
