God is not evil, nor should we be.

There has been a lot of talk about behaviour and what is the correct way to deal with controversies and poor behaviour among the Christian intertubes. Some people say that if you blog you are going to be outed and criticized. That people should just deal with this.

Others consider that they should defend themselves. This led to TC going private, abruptly.  (I think it is now back up again…. hence the link).

In the rest of our lives, there are some principles: we are supposed to do good, because God is good.

Romans 2:25-3:8

Circumcision indeed is of value if you obey the law; but if you break the law, your circumcision has become uncircumcision. 26So, if those who are uncircumcised keep the requirements of the law, will not their uncircumcision be regarded as circumcision? 27Then those who are physically uncircumcised but keep the law will condemn you that have the written code and circumcision but break the law. 28For a person is not a Jew who is one outwardly, nor is true circumcision something external and physical. 29Rather, a person is a Jew who is one inwardly, and real circumcision is a matter of the heart – 25it is spiritual and not literal. Such a person receives praise not from others but from God.

1Then what advantage has the Jew? Or what is the value of circumcision? 2Much, in every way. For in the first place the Jews were entrusted with the oracles of God. 3What if some were unfaithful? Will their faithlessness nullify the faithfulness of God? 4By no means! Although everyone is a liar, let God be proved true, as it is written, “So that you may be justified in your words, and prevail in your judging.” 5But if our injustice serves to confirm the justice of God, what should we say? That God is unjust to inflict wrath on us? (I speak in a human way.) 6By no means! For then how could God judge the world? 7But if through my falsehood God’s truthfulness abounds to his glory, why am I still being condemned as a sinner? 8And why not say (as some people slander us by saying that we say), “Let us do evil so that good may come”? Their condemnation is deserved!

There is enough evil in the world. There is enough sadness. In our real lives, not the cyberian ones, we are expected to act decently and with discretion. In cyberia, we probably should do the same thing.

But this is not rewarded. The count (that brings in money — via google ads, and no I am not enrolled with that) is your traffic, via google analytics. The way to get traffic is to be controversial. Picking fights is an easy way to do this.

The plain teaching of the gospel is controversial enough. We do not need to go picking fights among ourselves — there is enough error to be confronted anyway.

  1. It’s not back up.
You know what’s funny? People who ban certain others from commenting on their own blogs, going on to the blogs of those they’ve banned from commenting, and leaving comments.
Even more funny, those who ban comments altogether, nevertheless leaving them at others’ blogs.
I’ve witnessed a few examples of this. It’s hypocritical, but amusing.

    1. Ahh, it’s just standard attention-whore behaviour, Will. Site goes downhill, claim persecution of some sort, scrub site. It’s the standard formula. Nothing surprising here.
will, her contention that the men of the Manosphere are stalking her is probably wishful thinking.
Do you two men find it amusing that the blog will now become “a comment-less” blog? Especially when the useless comments are what drives the blog’s traffic?
“You know what’s funny? People who ban certain others from commenting on their own blogs, going on to the blogs of those they’ve banned from commenting, and leaving comments.”
What exactly are you referring to?

      1. So that’s why you have disappeared off the TC comment thread nowadays. All the men have deserted except for Chris.

      2. The number of posts that were driven by comments on that blog… sigh.

As far as I can tell, it is still private, and the comments have been removed. Pity. Alte has produced a really good thesis on Peak Feminism — when she does analyze she is painfully accurate — but it is not available but to those registered.

Will, a week in Canada left me in both a relaxed mode (due to Daughter telling me NOT to talk about work, and doing practical stuff around their house) and at the same time thinking the place is cheerfully and with great pride going down a path of destruction. THe amount of overly positive hypocrisy…

… and Do not start me about Lester Pearson Airport.

    1. Yes, you’re here in our fair Dominion, aren’t you? Welcome back. Too bad you’re in Manitoba, but it could be worse; you could be in New Brunswick. 😉

  2. Alte is just being paranoid that men of the manosphere is interested in stalking her unless there is evidence to prove it.

    1. Since she won’t publicly point us to the posts in question, she’s expecting us to accept her word for it, to assume she’s acting in good faith, when her record, of shutting down blogs for no apparent reason, changing her name for no apparent reason, etc., give us pause from doing so, to say the least.

      1. Exactly. It’s just shit, a convenient excuse to scrub a site that’s going downhill.

  3. The blog will probably be back up in a week. We are becoming a comment-free blog.
