Above the parapet.

Human nature is nowhere near perfect.

Says me, who holed up in his hotel room last night because the jet lag had hit like a ton of bricks. (was in bed, Asleep. At 2100, instead of being at a conference dinnter that ended at 0130).

People have started cyberstalking, and this has led to another blog going private — perhaps then producing a depersonalized blog.  But at present that voice is silent. Which brings us to today’s lectionary, and some comments.

Romans 1:16-25

16For I am not ashamed of the gospel; it is the power of God for salvation to everyone who has faith, to the Jew first and also to the Greek. 17For in it the righteousness of God is revealed through faith for faith; as it is written, “The one who is righteous will live by faith.”

18For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and wickedness of those who by their wickedness suppress the truth. 19For what can be known about God is plain to them, because God has shown it to them. 20Ever since the creation of the world his eternal power and divine nature, invisible though they are, have been understood and seen through the things he has made. So they are without excuse; 21for though they knew God, they did not honor him as God or give thanks to him, but they became futile in their thinking, and their senseless minds were darkened. 22Claiming to be wise, they became fools; 23and they exchanged the glory of the immortal God for images resembling a mortal human being or birds or four-footed animals or reptiles.

24Therefore God gave them up in the lusts of their hearts to impurity, to the degrading of their bodies among themselves, 25because they exchanged the truth about God for a lie and worshiped and served the creature rather than the Creator, who is blessed forever! Amen.

Now some time ago I wrote a piece talking about how homosexuality is either moraaly wrong, or the bible is wrong. You cannot have this both ways. My son looked up the blog at school — or a friend did — and then asked him what it was like living with a homophobe. In short, I was accused of being evil.

So yes, it gets personal.  Now, I am quite aware that I have continual faults. I err frequently. But this blog stays up.

And the cost of running it — time, a few dollars (I am will under my traffic limits — and the fact that it isolates me from the morals of my town (where I am, despite working with and liking a buncha people who have lovers of the same gender, the same way I like a bunch of people who are in defacto relationships) I am labelled as unclen.

I would rather be unclean in this world than be ashamed of the gospel.

  1. I understand why she chose to do what she did. My blogs are public, but have near-zero traffic. I’ve had the same basic web-identity for nearly 10 years now, if you’re bored enough you can collect all kinds of information on me. But by the time you do that, you’ll get the concept that my husband is heavily armed and extremely protective.
But yeah, ultimately – we’re smaller and weaker than you men, and we do KNOW that. When the danger signals go up… a smart woman gets out of Dodge.

  2. Alte has had four different blogs in the four years I’ve ‘known her’ online, each of which she has deleted suddenly, just like this. Colour me a bit skeptical, therefore, regardless of her claims. Mark my words; she’ll be back, and then one day, that new blog will suddenly be deleted, and eventually another one started, which will then be deleted, and so on; the cycle will continue… Of course, she may come back under a different name; she has been known by four different names, online, thus far…

    1. The Ladies at TC are reconfiguring the blog and will then re poen it. They are not going to give up that URL .

But it will change. Besides, TC is not just one person.
