Fake Spirituality

Never think that this age is not religious. There is a sin: it is called having privilege. There is a clerical class of Brahmins: they are those who have graduated from the elite universities, where the tactics of diversity ensure that the children of the Brahmins get in while those of the lesser classes are rejected in favour of those who can claim minority status, and are trained to be as evil as those who they replaced.

There are sacrifices. There is daily hate. The sins are against inclusion and intersectionality, and are punished.

This priestly caste is highly spiritual, eclectic, and consider themselves highly sophisticated in their spirituality. They are ascetic: they shun all meat and sit in meditation, now called mindfulness and in all schools and hospitals as a panacea for all things. (I will confess I use it as a useful placebo control for education trials: it is no better than teaching people directly how to deal with issues).

This fake spirituality considers feelings, and does not think of the source of their tradition or the evil that they do. If you blow up your marraige and leave your wife and children in tears because you swap fornication for the life of a Buddhist Monk, you are not an apostate Catholic, but a Canadian Hero.. As if this is not a lie.

This seed of corruption is sown when a man fails to nourish his soul and forgets that man does not live on bread alone, but on every word that proceeds from the mouth of God. It is foolish to imagine that one can merely practice the Divine Word and dispense with the study of it. To do so is like tending the vine while neglecting the root, whereby we run the danger of losing the vine along with the root.

When we fall into the habit of failing to study, we will inevitably grow indifferent to the Word. As we grow indifferent, we will consider it unnecessary to renew our awareness of all that is contained in His Word. When we cease studying, we have broken with His Word and we slowly become unfamiliar with His will for our lives and we begin to open our hearts and our minds to fraudulent teachings, stupidity masquerading as wisdom, thoughtlessness under the guise of sincerity, and lies dressed up in the parlance of Truth. Where our minds and hearts have now become vacant and void of His Word, these other principles take up residence and occupy the space where the Word once richly dwelt.

Give us this day our daily bread. It is only a daily association with His Divine Word and Teachings which will serve to protect us from associating with falsehood and that which will corrupt and eventually destroy our souls. I don’t believe we set out consciously to live contrary to Godly principles, but once we take even the slightest step on to the erring path, we are wont to travel there more regularly.

This is a fake spirituality. It is not based on truth, it denies God.

And it is ancient.

Jeremiah 7:21-34

21Thus says the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel: Add your burnt offerings to your sacrifices, and eat the flesh. 22For in the day that I brought your ancestors out of the land of Egypt, I did not speak to them or command them concerning burnt offerings and sacrifices. 23But this command I gave them, “Obey my voice, and I will be your God, and you shall be my people; and walk only in the way that I command you, so that it may be well with you.” 24Yet they did not obey or incline their ear, but, in the stubbornness of their evil will, they walked in their own counsels, and looked backward rather than forward. 25From the day that your ancestors came out of the land of Egypt until this day, I have persistently sent all my servants the prophets to them, day after day; 26yet they did not listen to me, or pay attention, but they stiffened their necks. They did worse than their ancestors did.

27So you shall speak all these words to them, but they will not listen to you. You shall call to them, but they will not answer you. 28You shall say to them: This is the nation that did not obey the voice of the LORD their God, and did not accept discipline; truth has perished; it is cut off from their lips.
29  Cut off your hair and throw it away;
raise a lamentation on the bare heights,
for the LORD has rejected and forsaken
the generation that provoked his wrath.

30For the people of Judah have done evil in my sight, says the LORD; they have set their abominations in the house that is called by my name, defiling it. 31And they go on building the high place of Topheth, which is in the valley of the son of Hinnom, to burn their sons and their daughters in the fire — which I did not command, nor did it come into my mind. 32Therefore, the days are surely coming, says the LORD, when it will no more be called Topheth, or the valley of the son of Hinnom, but the valley of Slaughter: for they will bury in Topheth until there is no more room. 33The corpses of this people will be food for the birds of the air, and for the animals of the earth; and no one will frighten them away. 34And I will bring to an end the sound of mirth and gladness, the voice of the bride and bridegroom in the cities of Judah and in the streets of Jerusalem; for the land shall become a waste.

Yes, we sacrifice. Careers, freedom, even children. We are no better than the Ancient Israelites. If God did not spare them, he will not spare us.

And the lies we teach affect our assumptions, and that makes us stupid. The modern attention to the now, within mindfulness, is fake. It follows the fake idea that there is a tyrant in heaven, who can change his mind and do evil. This may look pretty, but a the lie has consequences.

This is STickwick. She’s cool, catholic, teaches astrophysics, and she is quoted by Vox.

During the Q&A, someone astutely asked Rushton why the difference in terms of societal output between whites and higher-IQ Asians. Rushton said the answer is not known, but he’s wrong. The answer is well known amongst historians of science: it’s Christianity.

Pearcey and Thaxton, in their book, The Soul of Science, explain in great detail that it was the ideals and assumptions of Christianity that led to science and thus greater technological advances.

These ideals and assumptions include:

  • Belief that the universe was created and ordered by a transcendent, rational mind
  • Belief that the universe is lawful and knowable
  • Belief in the reality of the physical world
  • Belief that the physical world is of value
  • Viewing physical work as noble, as a divine calling
  • The Biblical admonishment to test claims
  • Viewing the study of nature as a proper form of worship
  • Belief in linear time
  • Belief that mathematics forms the substrate of the physical world

Every non-Christian culture lacks at least one, and usually several, of these, which are all necessary for the development and advancement of science. This is why the intellectually advanced Greeks, and the technologically advanced Romans and Chinese, did not develop science, while the “backwards” medieval European Christians did.

Fake spirituality is sin.

Sin makes us not merely stupid, but evil. For the sins we like will be considered little, and our righteousness great. This is the narrative, and it is a lie. We are not great. We are broken, hurt, bleeding. Our healing is from Christ, and it is unmerited by us.

So we should do good and walk alright. Our duty is our worship, and our spirituality the truth, which is Christ, and Christ alone.
