Hat tip to Vox Popoli, who found this travesty of a race car. (I used to support Holden: this is a failed cause as the company is closing. I now support the Kiwi Racers in V8, and I don’t care what they are driving)
My Dad used to tell me, when I boasted, that Pride came before a fall. You don’t get a better example than this: race one of the season.
Marring the race won by Shell Ford flyer Scott McLaughlin, Percat was left reeling when he crashed his Holden into the back of Lee Holdsworth following a brake failure.
The Brad Jones Racing driver emerged from his car hunching before being forced to sit down on the side of the famous Melbourne street track.
Percat crashed with just two laps to go in the race when his brakes failed while travelling at 250 kph.
“I’ve never had a crash like that before, it really shakes you up. I know if our team could repair it and get me back out there they would, they do a brilliant job. The damage is just too much. It’s been a trying run to the start of our season, as we’ve shown some really good pace.”
Well, it made me smile. As Vox notes, some people believe there is no God. I think God enjoys a good joke. No harm to the driver, and the car, deliberately painted in gay pride colours, needs a complete rebuild.
But this virtue signalling, this disbelief hides something else. Hatred. Of God, of nature, and of all that is good.
47“Whoever is from God hears the words of God. The reason you do not hear them is that you are not from God.”
48The Jews answered him, “Are we not right in saying that you are a Samaritan and have a demon?” 49Jesus answered, “I do not have a demon; but I honor my Father, and you dishonor me. 50Yet I do not seek my own glory; there is one who seeks it and he is the judge. 51Very truly, I tell you, whoever keeps my word will never see death.” 52The Jews said to him, “Now we know that you have a demon. Abraham died, and so did the prophets; yet you say, ‘Whoever keeps my word will never taste death.’ 53Are you greater than our father Abraham, who died? The prophets also died. Who do you claim to be?” 54Jesus answered, “If I glorify myself, my glory is nothing. It is my Father who glorifies me, he of whom you say, ‘He is our God,’ 55though you do not know him. But I know him; if I were to say that I do not know him, I would be a liar like you. But I do know him and I keep his word. 56Your ancestor Abraham rejoiced that he would see my day; he saw it and was glad.” 57Then the Jews said to him, “You are not yet fifty years old, and have you seen Abraham?” 58Jesus said to them, “Very truly, I tell you, before Abraham was, I am.” 59So they picked up stones to throw at him, but Jesus hid himself and went out of the temple.
The enemy will double down and call you what they are. If they accuse you of intolerance or racism… they probably are both. If they accuse you of legalism and judgemental-ism, they definitely are both.
Let us give the Jews a break here. They knew what Christ was saying. That he was God. And that is why they wanted to stone him. They had some zeal for righteousness, and this is lacking in this time. Expect hatred. Expect to be the object of virtue signalling. And pray that there will revival, for this elite will drive us to ruin.
