No, it is not Thanksgiving here. We don’t do Thanksgiving. But the pharisees of this age sleep as much as thy did in the time of Christ, which is not at all.
PETA takes ethics for animals too far and tries to make memes. To guilt the ‘muricans on the day that they meet as a family to be thankful. The Puritans had this correct: it was a day to praise God. Not a day to score political points.
Is Christ King? Yes, but not at this time to rule, but to serve. So that God is glorified. It is not about seeking the praise of man. It is not about showing virtue. It is about fulfilling promises to the Jewish prophets and patriarchs, and extending that promise to all people.
For I tell you that Christ became a servant to the circumcised to show God’s truthfulness, in order to confirm the promises given to the patriarchs, and in order that the Gentiles might glorify God for his mercy. As it is written,
“Therefore I will praise you among the Gentiles,
and sing to your name.”(Romans 15:8-9 ESV)
As he was drawing near—already on the way down the Mount of Olives—the whole multitude of his disciples began to rejoice and praise God with a loud voice for all the mighty works that they had seen, saying, “Blessed is the King who comes in the name of the Lord! Peace in heaven and glory in the highest!” And some of the Pharisees in the crowd said to him, “Teacher, rebuke your disciples.” He answered, “I tell you, if these were silent, the very stones would cry out.”
(Luke 19:37-40 ESV)
The Pharisees want everything to follow their agenda. Everything. Life must be perfect. We must never melt down. We must never, ever, be broken.
At times we will make mistakes. At times we will say the wrong thing, and at times we will be broken. It will hurt.
But at other times it is so correct to praise God. For if we do not, the stone will. The Pharisees, then and now, will seethe regardless.
I hope she gets out of that pigpen before that pig wakes up…
