This week there has been a fair need for prayer. It is exam week, there are illnesses among my family, and a strike at work. That is before we consider what is happening in the USA, where the wrath of God against our ungodliness is becoming more clear.

The mandate of heaven was, in the middle kingdom, the sign that the emperor in the hidden city was legitimate and one should be loyal to him. If it was lost (generally due to famine, flood or invasion) then another would arise. The current elite are the rebels of 1968, their children and grandchildren, a nomenklatura. They demand elaborate prayers and double speak: true belief, even if the facts on the ground are different.

By suggesting he might not accept the results of a “rigged election” Trump is committing an unpardonable sin. But this new cult, this devotion to a new holy trinity of diversity, democracy and equality, is of recent vintage and has shallow roots.

For none of the three – diversity, equality, democracy – is to be found in the Constitution, the Bill of Rights, the Federalist Papers or the Pledge of Allegiance. In the pledge, we are a republic.

When Ben Franklin, emerging from the Philadelphia convention, was asked by a woman what kind of government they had created, he answered, “A republic, if you can keep it.”

Among many in the silent majority, Clintonian democracy is not an improvement upon the old republic; it is the corruption of it.

Consider: Six months ago, Virginia Gov. Terry McAuliffe, the Clinton bundler, announced that by executive action he would convert 200,000 convicted felons into eligible voters by November.

If that is democracy, many will say, to hell with it.

We do not accept their legitimacy. We do not accept their authority, moral or otherwise. They have lost the Mandate of Heaven.

Soon the hour will be upon us. Given the growing fear of the Establishment, they will probably strike first. And, in doing so, they will spark the very revolution that terrifies them.

The politicians are corrupt and isolated? Nothing new here. I live in a town that has reliably returned Labour MPs for the hundred years the party has existed in New Zealand. It has but one virtue: we are ignored by the capital: we get some peace at the cost of not having limited funding from the treasury.

The texts and rules we have are complicated. The contrast here is how Christ taught us to be. His prayer is simple: a child can recite it: gloss included.

Now Jesus was praying in a certain place, and when he finished, one of his disciples said to him, “Lord, teach us to pray, as John taught his disciples.” And he said to them, “When you pray, say:

“Father, hallowed be your name.
Your kingdom come.
Give us each day our daily bread,
and forgive us our sins,
for we ourselves forgive everyone who is indebted to us.
And lead us not into temptation.”

And he said to them, “Which of you who has a friend will go to him at midnight and say to him, ‘Friend, lend me three loaves, for a friend of mine has arrived on a journey, and I have nothing to set before him’; and he will answer from within, ‘Do not bother me; the door is now shut, and my children are with me in bed. I cannot get up and give you anything’? I tell you, though he will not get up and give him anything because he is his friend, yet because of his impudence he will rise and give him whatever he needs. And I tell you, ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives, and the one who seeks finds, and to the one who knocks it will be opened. What father among you, if his son asks for a fish, will instead of a fish give him a serpent; or if he asks for an egg, will give him a scorpion? If you then, who are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will the heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to those who ask him!”

We should not be as the elite, or aligned with them. We need to accept that the ideologies of this age will be historical footnotes. But then, what should we do?

We will be opposed. We will move through the corporations, for they are converged, as are the universities and the mainstream political parties.

We need to be plain. Not as much virtue signalling, as the flowers in my local coffee shop are for the mandatory pink month before mandatory Movember. We need to speak plain. We need to stop speaking defensively. We need to concentrate more on forgiving each other, praying for each other, and that we are not led to temptation.

We need to back away from this failed revolution, and the shipwreck that is the millennial generation of social justice twits, and support their sane contemporaries. For they are beginning to build anew, and build right.

Accepting the screeching that they are haters from the elite as high praise.
