The title comes from a comment about the sermon. That the SJW will descend with the guillotine or noose. That it is hated.
Well, yeah. Fortunately, people in NZ are a little more sane than in the USA, where things are moving faster than I thought. The sermon went fairly well.
But such things can have consequences. The council had decided that Christ was to be arrested. Ideally before the festival. And he should be dead before the high holy days.
Now the Passover of the Jews was at hand, and many went up from the country to Jerusalem before the Passover to purify themselves. They were looking for Jesus and saying to one another as they stood in the temple, “What do you think? That he will not come to the feast at all?” Now the chief priests and the Pharisees had given orders that if anyone knew where he was, he should let them know, so that they might arrest him.
Six days before the Passover, Jesus therefore came to Bethany, where Lazarus was, whom Jesus had raised from the dead. So they gave a dinner for him there. Martha served, and Lazarus was one of those reclining with him at table. Mary therefore took a pound of expensive ointment made from pure nard, and anointed the feet of Jesus and wiped his feet with her hair. The house was filled with the fragrance of the perfume. But Judas Iscariot, one of his disciples (he who was about to betray him), said, “Why was this ointment not sold for three hundred denarii and given to the poor?” He said this, not because he cared about the poor, but because he was a thief, and having charge of the moneybag he used to help himself to what was put into it. Jesus said, “Leave her alone, so that she may keep it for the day of my burial. For the poor you always have with you, but you do not always have me.”
(John 11:55-12:8 ESV)
Let us not speculate as to which Mary this was. Let us consider however, that are lives are like Nard. Nard was precious. It was expensive. And for Christ it should be poured out.
Poured out.
Do not let fear corrupt your witness. You will have enough problems with the sins you cherish.
And have to give up, for others, and for God, says me, who has to limit his spud input.
The times are evil. During such periods, gray disappears, and you are forced to choose sides. In such times, choose, always, and every time, the light.
Your blood may be spilt. But that itself is a witness against the time.
And praise God, that with the exception of the more stupid fellaheen, rhetoric does not lead to pogroms. Yet.
If you can, before we converge into the mob, be where the crowds are not. If not, prepare yourselves, for this elite will not quietly give up their unrighteousness. As Christ was arrested, so shall we be.
But like him, we will not be silenced.
