Proclaim truth before the great rebellion [II Thess 2]

This is a very short follow on from yesterday’s post,

Christ will not come until mankind has rebelled, and the people of Lawlessness have taken over. This may imply that the West becomes corrupt (which has already happened) or that the west falls and the sons of the prophets of Lawless win.

Those people are peoples of the lie: it may be an antichristian lie such as Mohammed made, or it may be secular materialism, which seems to be a modern hydra.

But the speculations we see need to be held lightly. We should look for the return of Christ, but that timing is not under our control. We can but do our duty.

Now concerning the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ and our being gathered together to him, we ask you, brothers, not to be quickly shaken in mind or alarmed, either by a spirit or a spoken word, or a letter seeming to be from us, to the effect that the day of the Lord has come. Let no one deceive you in any way. For that day will not come, unless the rebellion comes first, and the man of lawlessness is revealed, the son of destruction,

(2 Thessalonians 2:1-3 ESV)

Although there are many things wrong with this world — and I spend a fair amount of time talking about them, if for nothing else as a warning, there is still some prosperity and some good in the world. The elite are still partying: the two cruise liners were parked on the non photogenic side of Port Chalmers yesterday.

There is much that is good left in this world. It is our job to preserve it. There is much that is noble left: our job is to emulate it. And there is much truth in this world: our job is to proclaim it.

  1. Yes, there are many things wrong with this world. As exemplified by those two lamentable products of modern naval architecture. Floating versions of Rainbow’s End.
Pointed white bricks with lots of glass. Appropriately most of them are ‘classless’.

Those floating hotels are courted by local businesses, who sell them things we cannot get rid of, and they seem to be full of cashed up bogans. So… yes.
