Mercy, Justice, Humility, Exile. [Jer 29]

It was communion today and the text was about being humble, and seeking justice, loving mercy… from the gospel about being greatest to Micah 6:8. Which is difficult. For justice and mercy are difficult to attain, or balance.

And we are not of this tribe, or of this world. We are not to conflate our race or ethnicity with virtue: Gobbineau was wrong, as have been the ilk who followed him. In Christ there is not merely not Jew nor Greek, but not Black, Yellow or White.

But that is in Christ. In this world, judge by their actions. It is not wise to put those inimical with the West in the West: and while the politicians encourage this and the new settlers try to legislate with rifle and knife, we need to consider how we should live.

For we are not in our Kingdom. Our kingdom will come: but we are akin to the Jews: living in Babylon but dreaming of the Judean hills.

“Thus says the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel, to all the exiles whom I have sent into exile from Jerusalem to Babylon: Build houses and live in them; plant gardens and eat their produce. Take wives and have sons and daughters; take wives for your sons, and give your daughters in marriage, that they may bear sons and daughters; multiply there, and do not decrease. But seek the welfare of the city where I have sent you into exile, and pray to the LORD on its behalf, for in its welfare you will find your welfare. For thus says the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel: Do not let your prophets and your diviners who are among you deceive you, and do not listen to the dreams that they dream, for it is a lie that they are prophesying to you in my name; I did not send them, declares the LORD.

“For thus says the LORD: When seventy years are completed for Babylon, I will visit you, and I will fulfill to you my promise and bring you back to this place. For I know the plans I have for you, declares the LORD, plans for welfare and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope. Then you will call upon me and come and pray to me, and I will hear you. You will seek me and find me, when you seek me with all your heart. I will be found by you, declares the LORD, and I will restore your fortunes and gather you from all the nations and all the places where I have driven you, declares the LORD, and I will bring you back to the place from which I sent you into exile.

(Jeremiah 29:4-14 ESV)

This is why I have hope. Even while the enemy destroys churches, drives my brothers to despair, and rejoices in the untimely death of those who have believed the memes of this world.

Because the church is not the Popes. Nor is it the creature of the English Parliament or the General Assembly of the Kirk. It is Christ’s. He will cleanse us: he will restore us, and he will bring us to him.

Our nations may fall: our politicians are cowards, and the people fail, as they have been blindfolded by the SJWs lest they have vision.

But we are not of this nation. We are of Christ. And he will provide the justice and truth we need, and the mercy that allows us to live. It is merely our role to walk humbly with our God.
