The Kingdom comes as sure as spring in the Antipodes [Mt 6].

We spend much of our time worrying. About work, about our children, about our nation: we are men and women of conscience. We are aware that overwhelming worry is both a sin and a diagnosis. But we wade in.

Lord, do we wade in. To the trivia of this time.

See wading into “climate change” might be appropriate if everything else were buttoned up and stashed away in a tabernacle. But here in the United States, we have a government-funded organization that chops up babies and sells their parts. Ask Obama about it over dinner. Maybe you could weigh in on this one as you say something negative about capitalism. Capitalism is only evil when baby parts are for sale.

We’re also having an issue with gay marriage. It’s negatively affecting Americans who believe only one man and one woman should have wedding cakes. Bakers, photographers, and some county clerks are having a hell of a time navigating those murky government-spoiled religious liberty waters. The river is full of condoms and feathered boas, so best not be using it for baptisms. Speaking of condoms, did Obama tell you he’s trying to mandate that Catholic hospitals and organizations provide birth control and abortion services? But by all means, make small talk about the weather instead.

But anxiety, and fear, is not something we are commanded to. It is a sin: for we are having not confidence in the Almighty. It is a consequence, for if you have a spouse and children you have to be worried, you cannot be a minimalist and concentrate on the kingdom alone.

And the kingdom is coming, as sure as spring finally arrives in the Antipodes.

“Therefore I tell you, do not be anxious about your life, what you will eat or what you will drink, nor about your body, what you will put on. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothing? Look at the birds of the air: they neither sow nor reap nor gather into barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not of more value than they? And which of you by being anxious can add a single hour to his span of life? And why are you anxious about clothing? Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow: they neither toil nor spin, yet I tell you, even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these. But if God so clothes the grass of the field, which today is alive and tomorrow is thrown into the oven, will he not much more clothe you, O you of little faith? Therefore do not be anxious, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’ For the Gentiles seek after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them all. But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.

“Therefore do not be anxious about tomorrow, for tomorrow will be anxious for itself. Sufficient for the day is its own trouble.

(Matthew 6:25-34 ESV)

Now concerning the betrothed, I have no command from the Lord, but I give my judgment as one who by the Lord’s mercy is trustworthy. I think that in view of the present distress it is good for a person to remain as he is. Are you bound to a wife? Do not seek to be free. Are you free from a wife? Do not seek a wife. But if you do marry, you have not sinned, and if a betrothed woman marries, she has not sinned. Yet those who marry will have worldly troubles, and I would spare you that. This is what I mean, brothers: the appointed time has grown very short. From now on, let those who have wives live as though they had none, and those who mourn as though they were not mourning, and those who rejoice as though they were not rejoicing, and those who buy as though they had no goods, and those who deal with the world as though they had no dealings with it. For the present form of this world is passing away.

(1 Corinthians 7:25-31 ESV)

What Paul reminds us is that if we have family we will have to deal with the troubles of this world. We will worry. About Social Welfare taking our children for we discussed how the local vibrant immigrants consider the natives Kaffir and how that they may assault our neighbours and wives and children.

And how we remain silent at our jobs, lest we lose them, and the bank take the house.

And how the world tries to corrupt our morals, our families, so that we move, sheeplike, to perdition.

But here there is hope. THis nation will pass away, for God is indeed just. The hypocrisy of the left will be exposed. (Hat tip Steve Crowder)

At this time, cling to the gospel, and heed not the messages of this time and these days. For this world will pass away. What will be left is nothing but people: in the end people matter more than our lives, our fortunes, or our sacred honour.

Do not isolate yourself as a sacrifice to the elite, but instead Love God, who will bring all things to you. To marry and breed is indeed no sin: for out of the troubles comes the next generation. In the end, it is how we influence those around us that matters, for that is the measure by which we should judge. And let your families and neighbours be called to Christ, who had his arms nailed wide in our place.
