I woke up late this morning, and found a series of emails saying that the site was down. Which seems to be happening intermittently — I have contacted the webhosts and they are onto it, but as I was typing this the connection is cutting in and out continually. Needless to say, I have backed up the website. This is in the context of being informed by those who do care for me that people think someone using my name to spread hateful things around.
Which would worry me in normal times. But in these times, saying the truth on almost anything is classed as hate speech.
And I would rather deal with those who hate. They can be confronted. They can be corrected. And if needful, they can serve as warnings. But we cannot live within a cone of silent politeness, nor can we preach the gospel without mentioning the laws of God and the laws written in our conscience.
If that gets called trolling, then a-trolling I will go. The profound Irony that I act akin to Voltaire’s quote about totally disagreeing with his opponents but defending the right for them to say it is not new: the Jacobites, who claimed to be sons of the endarkenment that Voltaire bought, censored political speech, and that cost many their lives.
So, in the meantime, I will get this posted if and when the site goes back up. One hopes that normal service will be resumed shortly.
UPDATE.
1. As of 5 PM the site is still going up and down. The techs say that the server is at times under extreme load.
2. I revised the theme so that it uses excerpts and not the whole post. So one can navigate.
UPDATE 2.
