The snark is strong in that one. [quotage]

I want to start this with one of the most amusing things I read this week: Larry taking down a reviewer who admitted he had not even read the book.

Second, the size doesn’t actually matter, because you admited that you DIDN’T ACTUALLY READ THE BOOK. You know, the thing that you are supposed to be rating the quality there of. For all you could know it could be the most mind blowing 80 pages ever written and in really tiny print to boot, but you couldn’t get off your cheap, self righteous ass long enough to find out.
(for the record, it isn’t the best thing ever, but it was fun enough that most people who aren’t whiny little bitches didn’t mind spending $5 for it!)
Next, the MASSIVE cost is $5. That’s FIVE WHOLE DOLLARS. That is the cost of a mediocre hamburger. Most of us who aren’t cheap ass bastards leave bigger tips than that for our mediocre hamburgers. I can’t even imagine what a shitty tipper Bork is.
And this isn’t a bash on poor people who struggle to come up with $5. Been there, done that, ate a whole lot of Ramen noodle. I’ve been dirt poor and a reader. That’s what libraries are for. Only if you get your books from a library you can’t really bitch about the cost in your pointless preachy reviews now, can you?
But that’s not the important thing about why this is such a shitty, pointless, obnoxious, annoying review. Oh no… The best part is how you are daring to lecture people about how they are enjoying themselves wrong.

Ah yes, enjoying yourself wrong. It’s so bad. You have to act in the manner approved by our appointed regulators. Matt Forney, now, same theme, but on the horror the elite have if you try to improve things.

Firstly, leftists and feminists operate on a bizarre logic: in their world, you can be as fat and disgusting as you want so long as you’re unapologetic about it. You can be five hundred pounds with oozing fungal infections in your blubber rolls, unable to leave your house without a forklift, but as long as you “accept” that you’re a hideous slob and keep making excuses for it, you won’t draw their ire. However, if you try to lose weight and are critical of fat people who don’t make any effort to do the same, you are a HORRIBLE! HYPOCRITICAL! ASSHOLE!

If you are going to be snarky, be witty. Since brevity with wit hangs, twitter is better.

The fear of criticism, the snark, slows us overmuch. It means we tell pretty lies to each other instead of hard truths. And that is not what we should do if we claim to love each other.

We’ve all experienced this before. Your female friends telling you you’ll make some girl happy…just not them. Follow your heart and the money will follow…in the form of an unemployment check. Hard work and a strong work ethic will be rewarded…by manipulative bosses who will make you work overtime. No doubt, like me, these lies you were world cost you years of your life and hundreds of thousands of dollars in lost opportunities because the people in your life then could not muster to tell you a harsh truth.

Conversely, those that hard the genuine heart to tell you the truth, are likely the ones responsible for what modicum of success you did have in life. Your father telling you to change your own damn oil. The girl who had the heart to say you needed to lift weights. Or the rare guidance counselor that said, “No, son, you’re not going to make it with a degree in communications.”

The reason polite lies wreak incalculable damage as opposed to harsh truth is that lies do not adhere to The Reality Principle while the truth does. Ergo, in telling people the truth, no matter how harsh, you are ACCURATELY informing them about reality, allowing them to make decisions based in the real world, and thus have better results and success in life.

We need to remember that feelings change. Hurts ease. Our sense of offense fails. Instead, we need to say what is the truth, We need to ignore those who mock, and we need to disobey those who try to censor us, and make the lies of this age compulsory.

It would be easy to get lost in the weeds of casuistry by looking at particular kinds of cases here, but one consideration overwhelms all others: that the only cure for ignorance is truth, and that the longer ignorance (or willful rejection of the truth) persists the deeper into the trap of sin people fall. Every ‘irregular’ union has a beginning and an ending (in death if not before); and the longer it goes on the more entangled and difficult it becomes for the persons involved. Even someone who stumbled into a difficult situation out of invincible ignorance is better off knowing the truth, and knowing it sooner rather than later; because only the truth can set you free. The Good, the True, and the Beautiful are a unity. Christ is the Way, the Truth, and the Life. Objectively evil behaviors are chosen because of defects of knowledge and/or defects of will. But even in those cases where the defects are of knowledge, the person is better off coming to know the truth – the sooner the better, in every sense of the word “better” – rather than remaining enslaved to ignorance.

As Zippy says in his post, beauty and truth flow from God, and in God they are united. This world has much beauty in it. Let us think on the noble, the true, that of good worth and value. Let us train ourselves to see the beauty round us, to listen to the music of water and woodwind, and to worship our creator.
