Well, since it is a new year and I have some time to-day to sort things out.
- The default 2014 theme has gone, instead I’m using SimplyBlack by Guido van der Leest. This means that the posts are summarized and the format is a bit more magazine-like.
- Social comments are turned off and deleted. Disqus has the same functionality (you can log in using twitter or facebook, and share comments with socal media) and this allows me to obey one of the rules of blogging: Every plug-in increases your vulnerability to being 0wnZor3d.
- I have updated by commenting rules page. And no, there is no commenting form: the amount of spam those generates is fairly large.
Now some numbers and graphs from 2013. WordPress notes there were around 83K views this year.
Most of the views came (unsurprisingly) from English-speaking countries, with the USA being the main audience, but there is a very large fail — countires where there was one view or so over the year.
And a number of posts, apart from the front page, got over 300 views. Here is a list of them:
I think I should thank Vanessa (Alte), Sunshine Mary, and a bunch of liberals who were very useful idiots, for those three groups generated most of the traffic. However, the blog is much more about the daily lectionary readings, most of whom get read under 200 times, and frankly that does not matter. The lectionary is a useful habit. The popular posts generally occur when I’m irritated, and that is not that useful: in fact, at times it may be damaging.
And I think that is enough of a summary for the last year. Let’s get onto this one.
UPDATE.
This is the wordpress summary for 2013 The top commentators were Will (Not sure what is blog is) Will S from Patri, Butterfly flower from This won’t hurt, and Hearthie (who hast two blogs HHH and To be lovely). And they say 77K views. So thanks again, everyone.
Happy New Year, Chris. I’m sort of a disqus failure, but I promise to make a better effort at it in 2014.
Girlfriend?!?! How did I miss that? *double like* 😉
I emailed a bunch of people incl. E, with her photo and such about a month ago. She is a civilian so remains anonymous to many: generally I call her the Engineering Diva.
She’s pretty! 🙂
