This is a zombie attempt at live blogging. I’ll be looking at the streams and making comments at times. But there is rugby on.
So the stream is part of the living dead, snarky, rotting, and wanting to remove the last vestiges of intelligence from you.
All times are in NZ. Note that the polls closed at 6PM AEST (8PM NZ, and was called but an hour later). So quick. Not slow
Sunday Morning catchup
This is Abbots victory speech.

All Blacks 28 Pumas 13. Full time. And in the Aussie election, it’s over. The Twitosphere is of the left tonight, and they have lost.
Federal Treasurer Chris Bowen says it's clear the coalition has won the election. "I think we can call the election". #auspol #ausvotes

Coalition 93 Labor 45 on ABC election. Comment: “I think the natural term for a government in NZ is eight years. To get at third term you need a weak opposition or extraordinary circumstances”
The assumption that catholicism and christians are unmentionable unless overtly pro gay has hit the tweetstream

And George Bush still infects the left. They IQ on that side is dropping: Schandenfreude tastes good even across the Tasman.
Sat, Sept 7, 2013. The day Australia committed the same crime US did, when they elected George W Bush. We have spoken, and it's NSFW #auspol

The Nate Silver moment — around the polls — has happened. Small polls unreliable. Meta analysis — may be reliable. This time the Left internal polling failed them: it failed the right in the USA.
Finally FINALLY @AntonyGreenABC has done a Nate Silver re: the reliability of the polls! I've been waiting ALL CAMPAIGN! #auspol #ausvotes

Of course, some progressives have not been keeping tabs on what is really going on.
Just took a quick peek at #auspol hashtag. WTF! Did Australia really just swing to the right?

And the feminist misandrist white knights have come out of their closet — trying to move the narrative to Abbott hating women (Heh. Married to a Kiwi, and Kiwi Chicks are not doormats. Three daughters. Pull the other one)
Male Umbridge has won the election. If I know you and you voted for him, ping yourself in the brain for me. #ausvotes #auspol

ABC news is predicting a Coalition win. It is quite early — only 13% of votes are counted, but the swing is making it easy to call. The rest of the night will be mopping up.
Kids are back playing Final Fantasy, which is more interesting than the All Blacks.

The Left bitterness continues.
Deeply disappointed that ALP infighting is going to leave Oz with the most conservative, socially backward Government in recent history.

1950.
I forgot to mention that Counties won the Ranfurly Shield today (which means Hawkes Bay now hold the record for the shortest period with the shield — six days) and this means Otago could get it back — if they lift their game after losing big today against Tasman.
And the All Blacks are playing Argentina, which means only political tragics will be looking at the real live blogs. .
ABC channel seven is doing the sports. I expect nothing to happen except posturing for at least an hour. Besides, SA, and WA are still voting.
1940.
The Left is in full snark mode while the polls are still open.
Ladies: Don't forget to set your clock back 60 years tonight when Abbott wins. #auspoll #ausvotes

And the right is assuming that everything will go well. As a Kiwi, I assume that some kind of looney party will get into the room just to put flies in the custard and there will be no decision on the night, courtesy of MMP. Let’s see what happens.
Abbott is a conservative Roman Catholic, isn’t he?
Yes. The Liberals are like the Canadian Conservatives.
Tony Abbott is indeed a conservative Catholic – he originally planned to join the priesthood. If you read his bio, he was actually rather kick-arse in his youth. One might even say, Alpha (Read up on some of his antics in Uni politics, pretty funny IMO.)
The media has portrayed him as an Insufferable Brute and Misogynist, but I think of late the truth has finally shone through that he seems to be a pretty decent guy. As for Rudd, well, I think it’s fair to say that a large percentage of the Australian population have finally seen him for the sociopath and narcissist that he is.
It is frustrating, however, that he also is pushing some truly daft and anti-conservative policies, like his paid parental leave scheme. He has 3 daughters and no sons – every daddy wants the best for his girls. And I sigh. As a single middle-class male, I’m paying for this so-called “conservative” to undermine the role of the father and husband, using a huge chunk of my money. Oh well – he’s the best option by far, considering, and at least he’s a good Christian; unlike Rudd, whom congregations everywhere fell over themselves to be duped by the last time round.
