1. You don’t need to give your email to comment. Commenting is run by disqus, and they will accept facebook and other ids. Including wordpress, I think.
2. Trackbacks are on. At least they should be.
3. The theme should change to twenty-twelve. This will put the content, not the abstract, on the front page, and make reading (I hope) easier.
4. Membership is now closed. The only member is the admin (me) and I will only open this if I want anyone to guest blog — and I will probably contact them by email first. There were some 400 spam style subscribers to the blog. That list is now purged.
5. I have been double entering items into twitter and facebook. Jetpack now contains this functionality, so the other plugins that do this have been disabled.
On a non blog note, I will be changing ISPs sometime in the next month to move from DSL to faster broadband. This could interrupt posting.
I hope by returning to what is basically a default WordPress theme and by disabling some of the crud (a) I will stop getting spammers trying to join the site and (b) it will load faster, (c) it will be more pleasant to read.
