Many people have meditated on the ascension, and how glorious it owuld be to have been there and to see Elijah, Moses and Jesus in Glory. However, at the end of this, the disciples were terrified.
There men were no cowards. They were fishermen: they were hard-working men. They would not have scared easily.
28Now about eight days after these sayings Jesus took with him Peter and John and James, and went up on the mountain to pray. 29And while he was praying, the appearance of his face changed, and his clothes became dazzling white. 30Suddenly they saw two men, Moses and Elijah, talking to him. 31They appeared in glory and were speaking of his departure, which he was about to accomplish at Jerusalem. 32Now Peter and his companions were weighed down with sleep; but since they had stayed awake, they saw his glory and the two men who stood with him. 33Just as they were leaving him, Peter said to Jesus, “Master, it is good for us to be here; let us make three dwellings, one for you, one for Moses, and one for Elijah” — not knowing what he said. 34While he was saying this, a cloud came and overshadowed them; and they were terrified as they entered the cloud. 35Then from the cloud came a voice that said, “This is my Son, my Chosen; listen to him!” 36When the voice had spoken, Jesus was found alone. And they kept silent and in those days told no one any of the things they had seen.
We should pray carefully about opening the heavens and letting the Glory of GOd descend upon us. The Flory of God is terrifying. It is a purifying fire. It is not something light.
And to forget this is to make the faith trivial.
to this world, God is a Terrorist
and so are his servants
that’s why the churches, states, and Almighty People of this planet hate and oppress His servants, whether it’s 3000 b.c. or 2013 a.d.
note also the extremely unusual presence of Father himself at the Transfigurative pivot-point between the OT and NT, demonstrating to human witnessess the consubstantiality of Moses and Elijah with Christ, the Sonship precedence of Jeshua, and the expressed satisfaction of Father with Jeshua
the full spectrum of the OT prophets is carried in Christ, from extreme to extreme, as exemplified in these representative two — the fire of Elijah and the ice of Moses — utterly opposite souls, personalities, and characters, yet united seamlessly in love of Christ
people only recall Moses in his power, but he was one of the meekest, most humble persons who ever lived (a big reason why God cherishes him so much)
this planet, and amerika in particular, is about to learn that Jeshua is just as much lion as lamb
it’s already being told, but is too proud, selfish, and stubborn to hear
Ray, that’s a better commentary than the one I wrote this morning. Thank you.
Psalm 104:31-32
May the glory of the Lord endure forever;
may the Lord rejoice in his works,
who looks on the earth and it trembles,
who touches the mountains and they smoke!
Exodus 15:3
The Lord is a warrior;
the Lord is his name
Psalm 97:1-6
The Lord reigns, let the earth be glad;
let the distant shores rejoice.
Clouds and thick darkness surround him;
righteousness and justice are the foundation of his throne.
Fire goes before him
and consumes his foes on every side.
His lightning lights up the world;
the earth sees and trembles.
The mountains melt like wax before the Lord,
before the Lord of all the earth.
The heavens proclaim his righteousness,
and all peoples see his glory.
oh yr welcome, a generous response — i’m always glad to see you guys post on the fearsome aspects of the LORD
i dont hear that from the churches bc they dont get him, he didnt show the lion much last time, could have tho
the apostles rightly WERE terrified at Yahshua in glory, this place will be getting some of that too, the Lord is a warrior and his friends are with him
when the OT prophets had encounters with the LORD, it often took them weeks or months afterward to recover physically and psychologically from the encounter with holiness
David sure knows his King and it comes thru in the psalms, his exclamation about the smoking mountains reminded me of a conversation elsewhere concerning the eruption of mt st helens and its description at a site called God’s Geography
