The Binkster made a very wise comment on SSM’s today. This is a context. Kristor has a long list of what we need to do (as Men) and Dalrock has a post on how wimmenz are now doubling down and hurting their kids in divorces… for pity points.
Our society is fallen. As Binky says
Christianity buried the old gods of blood and terror and arbitrary cruelty and human sacrifice– to abandon God and worship yourself is to return to them, and to the deep wells of darkness within. For women to worship Gaia & Wymyn-spirit and all that, or the secular versions of MeMeMe? Re-enslavement to darkness. Sacrifice your baby, your dignity, your marriage and the peace and wellness of your children for their whole lives? Sacrifices must be made, if we worship The Haaaaaapy™ and “You Can’t Tell Me What To Do!”
Seriously, though: the Greek myths are true, if not factual– witness the lovely harpies, the insane-making furies, the stone-cold dead killing Medusa and Gorgon, the vicious and adulterous goddesses on Olympus, the murderous and vengeful sub-goddesses and spirits and queens. It’s all there: except, we return to that spiritual universe as those not seeking the desire of all nations, Christ, to fulfill the longings and stories, but as those who reject the truth and goodness and resurrection in him, seeking to divorce ourselves from God and become ‘gods’ in our own right.
This is the spirit by which the wimmenz have taken the organs of mass influence in this society. They write the op-eds within out papers, they want to control the discourse within our families by making us say their lies, and they want to be priests. In doing this they reject the LORD.
And when the priest is faithless, the people follow.
1And now, O priests, this command is for you. 2If you will not listen, if you will not lay it to heart to give glory to my name, says the LORD of hosts, then I will send the curse on you and I will curse your blessings; indeed I have already cursed them, because you do not lay it to heart. 3I will rebuke your offspring, and spread dung on your faces, the dung of your offerings, and I will put you out of my presence.
4Know, then, that I have sent this command to you, that my covenant with Levi may hold, says the LORD of hosts. 5My covenant with him was a covenant of life and well-being, which I gave him; this called for reverence, and he revered me and stood in awe of my name. 6True instruction was in his mouth, and no wrong was found on his lips. He walked with me in integrity and uprightness, and he turned many from iniquity. 7For the lips of a priest should guard knowledge, and people should seek instruction from his mouth, for he is the messenger of the LORD of hosts. 8But you have turned aside from the way; you have caused many to stumble by your instruction; you have corrupted the covenant of Levi, says the LORD of hosts, 9and so I make you despised and abased before all the people, inasmuch as you have not kept my ways but have shown partiality in your instruction.
10Have we not all one father? Has not one God created us? Why then are we faithless to one another, profaning the covenant of our ancestors? 11Judah has been faithless, and abomination has been committed in Israel and in Jerusalem; for Judah has profaned the sanctuary of the LORD, which he loves, and has married the daughter of a foreign god. 12May the LORD cut off from the tents of Jacob anyone who does this – any to witness or answer, or to bring an offering to the LORD of hosts.
13And this you do as well: You cover the Lord’s altar with tears, with weeping and groaning because he no longer regards the offering or accepts it with favor at your hand. 14You ask, “Why does he not?” Because the LORD was a witness between you and the wife of your youth, to whom you have been faithless, though she is your companion and your wife by covenant. 15Did not one God make her? Both flesh and spirit are his. And what does the one God desire? Godly offspring. So look to yourselves, and do not let anyone be faithless to the wife of his youth. 16For I hate divorce, says the LORD, the God of Israel, and covering one’s garment with violence, says the LORD of hosts. So take heed to yourselves and do not be faithless.
Now Malachi corrects both the priests, who have abandoned the covenant with Levi — who is described as righteous. He is accounted as such: any reading of the Torah makes it clear that Aaron and Miriam had faults, Moses erred, and the Sons of Levi had their fair share of sinners. However, , the society had fallen.
Since the priests were no longer being faithful, the people failed. The rate of divorce increased. Now, God hates divorce, which is why I think we have divorce porn. It cuts the almighty to the quick to see another generation of children left without a protector and vulnerable to the players, the peddlers of destruction, because their mother had shut them away from their father and is too busy dating losers.
Without a vision, people stop breeding, and the nation dies. The priests were the holders of the true vision and the means for salvation. They need to preach rightly.
But I am no priest. I’m not qualified: I am divorced myself. What can I do? Well, Kristor has his list, and it is a good one. He sees the Church isolating itself. But he is American. I see the church as already isolated: the secular project is far more advanced in New Zealand.
So I suggest that we need to isolate ourselves from the corruption. Our leaders now lie. As Solzhenistyn said, we should not.
And the simplest and most accessible key to our self-neglected liberation lies right here: Personal non-participation in lies. Though lies conceal everything, though lies embrace everything, we will be obstinate in this smallest of matters: Let them embrace everything, but not with any help from me.
This opens a breach in the imaginary encirclement caused by our inaction. It is the easiest thing to do for us, but the most devastating for the lies. Because when people renounce lies it simply cuts short their existence. Like an infection, they can exist only in a living organism.
We do not exhort ourselves. We have not sufficiently matured to march into the squares and shout the truth out loud or to express aloud what we think. It’s not necessary.
It’s dangerous. But let us refuse to say that which we do not think.
This is our path, the easiest and most accessible one, which takes into account our inherent cowardice, already well rooted. And it is much easier — it’s dangerous even to say this — than the sort of civil disobedience which Gandhi advocated.
Our path is not to give conscious support to lies about anything whatsoever! And once we realize where lie the perimeters of falsehood ¿ each sees them in his own way.
Our path is to walk away from the gangrenous boundary. If we did not paste together the dead bones and scales of ideology, if we did not sew together the rotting rags, we would be astonished how quickly the lies would be rendered helpless and subside.
That which should be naked would then really appear naked before the whole world.
So in our timidity, let each of us make a choice: Whether consciously, to remain a servant of falsehood — of course, it is not out of inclination, but to feed one’s family, that one raises his children in the spirit of lies — or to shrug off the lies and become an honest man worthy of respect both by one’s children and contemporaries.
And from that day onward he:
- Will not henceforth write, sign, or print in any way a single phrase which in his opinion distorts the truth.
- Will utter such a phrase neither in private conversation nor in the presence of many people, neither on his own behalf nor at the prompting of someone else, neither in the role of agitator, teacher, educator, nor in a theatrical role. Will not depict, foster or broadcast a single idea which he can see is false or a distortion of the truth, whether it be in painting, sculpture, photography, technical science or music.
- Will not cite out of context, either orally or written, a single quotation so as to please someone, to feather his own nest, to achieve success in his work, if he does not share completely the idea which is quoted, or if it does not accurately reflect the matter at issue.
- Will not allow himself to be compelled to attend demonstrations or meetings if they are contrary to his desire or will, will neither take into hand nor raise into the air a poster or slogan which he does not completely accept.
- Will not raise his hand to vote for a proposal with which he does not sincerely sympathize, will vote neither openly nor secretly for a person whom he considers unworthy or of doubtful abilities.
- Will not allow himself to be dragged to a meeting where there can be expected a forced or distorted discussion of a question.
- Will immediately walk out of a meeting, session, lecture, performance or film showing if he hears a speaker tell lies, or purvey ideological nonsense or shameless propaganda.
- Will not subscribe to or buy a newspaper or magazine in which information is distorted and primary facts are concealed.
Of course, we have not listed all of the possible and necessary deviations from falsehood. But a person who purifies himself will easily distinguish other instances with his purified outlook.
