Jumped the shark, the SJW has.

The reign of the social justice warriors and the cowardly clerics and clerks who pander to them is becoming more ridiculous and baroque by the day.

There is a meme out there about jumping the shark. It is when something goes from being a point of cultural reference to that of cultural ridicule. It refers to an episode in a long running situation comedy in the 1980s called “Happy Days”. At one point, the resident bad boy, Fonzie, jumped over a shark on water skis for a bet. The show lost all believability at that moment, and (jumping over the uncanny valley of almost being real inhabited by most of the post modern arty series of that time) became so unmentionable that you could not even refer to the show ironically.

Which is pretty much where the SJW are now. But they are the storm troopers for the cathedral, who can replace them? The cadre is essential: they are the vanguard of the revolution!

The trouble with the progressives is that the revolution is coming, but it will not be to the left. The left is bankrupt. The ideas of Marx, Engels, Lenin and Mao have been tried and found wanting. Putting lipstick on them and calling them postmodern makes not a shred of difference. You can judge policies by their fruits, and the long march through the institutions has failed, equally, and with about as much damage.

The problem is that our nation needs young men to respond in traditional fashion so they will work hard and produce more than they need so the government can skim the surplus via taxation. With a record number of Americans no longer in the workforce, the tax base is shrinking.

Since we switched from an incentive based marriage model to a coercion based model, men are responding by not working hard enough to make themselves marriage material. By forgoing the rat race and not climbing the ladder as vigorously as in days past, today’s young men are not exiting the lower tax brackets as quickly as their dads did. This low-wage, low-tax bubble will become even more apparent when the high earning boomers retire. Maybe women will pick up the slack? Nope.

America has been slowing moving to an ever more progressive tax code. While the top tax rates have indeed declined from their historic highs, the addition of tax credits at the low end, coupled with loophole closures, has resulted in the rich’s share of actual income tax collected increasing. In other words, by effectively dropping half of America from the income tax rolls altogether, we have become ever more dependent on a shrinking population of tax payers. As those rich folk retire, or go expat, there will be fewer rich folks available to provide income transfer payments. With fewer men striving for success, the normal flow of tax revenues will be interrupted.

Now, the rate of rape (like many other crimes) is decreasing. This should be a cause of celebration, but is not. Because there is money in preventing rape, so if the problem goes away… so does the funding.

So where does the hysteria come from? The old truism “follow the money” is the most probable answer
. Sexual assault centers on college campuses are staffed out of the college’s operating budget. These are cushy jobs requiring little in the way of qualifications, with great benefits – the kinds of jobs that are almost impossible to find in today’s economic climate. Declining rates of all crimes, including sex crimes calls into question the need to staff such expensive centers, and this understandably puts the staff into a bit of a panic. If there are no rapes, well then we will just have to turn all sex into potential rape. And voila, their continued existence is justified.

I suspect when the bills to payout the wrongfully accused start piling up, as they already are, colleges may discover that sexual assault centers and campus rape hysteria are very expensive propositions indeed.

The second that colleges realize that without men on campus, women do not arrive, or that they now have lawyers doing spam drops (including physical mail) to all male staff and students asking if they have been wrongfully accused and if they have got their financial rewards — an academic form of ambulance chasing — and these crisis centres will close.

Now the church should not be following these fashions, but standing against them. We are in this culture, but we are not of it.

As American culture secularizes, the most basic Christian tenets seem ever more detached from mainstream American culture. Those who identify with Christianity, and who gather with the people of God, have already decided to walk out of step with the culture. Beliefs aren’t assumed but are articulated over and against a culture that finds them implausible. Evangelical views on sexuality seem strange, but young Evangelicals in post-Christianizing America have already embraced strangeness by spending Sunday morning at church rather than at brunch.

Moreover, sexuality isn’t ancillary to Christianity, in the way some other cultural or political issues are. Marriage and sex point, the Bible says, to a picture of the gospel itself, the union of Christ and his church. This is why the Bible spends so much time, as some critics would put it, “obsessed” with sex. That’s why, historically, churches that liberalize on sex tend to liberalize themselves right out of Christianity itself.

The culture is changing, to be sure. The Sexual Revolution marches on, but it doesn’t move forward without dissent. On any given Sunday morning, in your community, young Evangelicals are telling America that a sexual counter-revolution is ready to be born, again.

And my favourite Papist gives us a call to action, ironically mirrored by the under priest who preached at an Anglican church I visited that has many things wrong with it. But the priest was correct when he said that the text (“And I call you Peter, and on this rock I will found my church…”) is

  1. Christ founded the church. It is his.
  2. Christ will preserve the church, and Satan will not overcome it.
  3. What we do as a church matters: we have the power to restrict and to loosen.

The sermon then went on to talk about the Christians suffering in Syria, in Lebanon, in Iraq, in Nigeria, in Ethiopia. Killed, tortured, raped… because they are Christian, and the mongrels who call themselves Muslim not hiding this, but publishing these acts on the Internet for all to see.  And how we have a duty to pray for the suffering church.

Regardless of how it is lead, and regardless of if the persecution is internal or external.

The Church goes out of every persecution stronger and more confident in the end.
However big the damage this man can make (and it can be a huge damage, if the Lord in his wrath keep punishing us with his presence), the end of the campaign is written already: Satan’s complete and utter defeat.

We laymen – bloggers, commenters, fathers, teachers, friends, sons and daughters – must denounce the evil intentions of this godless man as loud as we can: frankly, openly, brutally. Shock your friends at the pub, and let them smile at first when they hear you saying what a disgrace this Pope is. They will smile, I assure you. But just a few phrases of reasoned arguing will get the smartest among them thinking. God works in mysterious ways, but he certainly never measures a priest from the number of followers he has, or indicates to us that the vast majority must be, on the whole, right.

The God of Athanasius, and of Archbishop Lefebvre, is watching us. He wants to see whether we swim with the stinking tide of a pontificate smelling of sheep (and therefore, actually, of shit), or dare to say that true is true and wrong is wrong; and the Pope can smoke whatever he pleases, but he won’t change reality.

The Francis Archipelago is now in full operation. Pray the Lord that we may see it become a relic of the past, like the Gulag one.

The more we give these Social Justice Wimps, who consider their power resides in their inability to work, their disabilities, their sensitivities, their ability to yell loudly, room the less effective we are. We need to tell some people that they belong in the pews being taught, not teaching. That they need to discuss their thoughts with their husbands, or their parents, or their elders.

That truth is not determined by a majority, nor changed by protest.

And that the next revolution will neither be conservative nor progressive, but a return to a functional method of living. For this Social Justice Foolishness is an example of conspicuous consumption: only rich nations can afford it. The rest are too busy trying to feed their families for such issues to be of a concern.

And if we continue to follow the dictates of the SJW, poverty will be our future.

  1. The volume and shrillness of the SJWs is increasing, and the claims are ever more outlandish. The response of Feminists to the #WomenAgainstFeminism ladies just highlights how much they see their influence peaking. I agree, they have jumped the shark. Good analogy.

The campus rape hysteria is another good case in point. Do they, and by they I include academia, Hollywood, and now the President of the US, actually believe that 20 percent of their nation’s young women will be sexually assaulted on campus? I’ll bet even the most crime filled neighborhoods can’t compete with that stat. Maybe, like the producers of Happy Days, they don’t even realize they have jumped the shark and still think they are on top of their game.

  2. Great post Chris, and thanks for the link-love.

You’re probably already aware of this, but if not, you’ve attracted the attention of a h8er who didn’t cotton too well to the the Christian manosphere’s take on her article about how she lost her virginity and her “faith” as a result.

    1. Thanks EW.
Yeah, I saw that a couple of days ago and Will S. linked to a couple of her posts in the comments section back then. I took it as an invitation to go over and subvert her comments section, which has led to a few arguments I really don’t have time or energy to continue.

I should know by now not to feed the trolls.
