This is a horrifying trend within evangelical Christianity that needs to be smothered in its tracks, forthwith. I only wish I knew how it could be effectively done. Most evangelicals have an almost cult-like devotion to the idea that is resistant to any correction, no matter how firmly grounded in Scripture.

The dispensationalist idea that they are still to be dealt with because they are extra special is commonplace, or even mainstream, within the Church and that idea denies the work of Christ. It also seems to fixate eyes on Israel, the bogey man and whatever end times theory is floating about nowadays rather than on walking each day with Christ.
