The first two are wholly built off his own self-confidence, not durable skills and accomplishments. But the cracks in that self-confidence has been showing since the 2012 election. We’re just in the final stages of a failed President’s term.

I think he’s malicious, and has figured out that no matter what nonsense he spreads (like claiming that Paris didn’t have mass shootings right after over a hundred people were killed that way) will be covered for by the media.
