IME, the friend whose father pretended to love her outside of the SA is the most well-balanced, most successful-in-life one of the people I know who survived various forms of CA (I’m not saying she doesn’t have PTSD, I’m saying she also has a decent life). The ones who suffered the rest of the abuse assortment had a much worse time in the rest of their lives, and were very much more into risk taking in their teen/young adult years. And their lives are much poorer (literally and figuratively) for it.

I’m seeing this as “most sexual abuse victims are already predamaged”. It would seem as well that we would need to differentiate between victims who were, and were not, predamaged–a lot of the cases of sexual abuse in churches appear to be those not predamaged. We might find something very different that way.

Most if not all those who have been abused (the anacronym we use is CSA — child sexual abuse) have come from violent and dysnfuctional families and have been emotionally and physically abused as well. They they place themselves in a group that is more dysocial and tend to sexualize early, have more violent and unstable relationships, and not protect their own children from abusers — for they are attreacted to the dark triad and lack the wisdom to seek those who will truly protect them.

The feminist memes mean little here. What enables this is the domestic purposes benefit. And what is changing it locally is the new rule — afer your second kid turns THREE you need to be in training or employment. Because we have made enough sink suburbs and schools.

My impression, from other reading over the years, is that Sexual CM operates more as a specific trauma rather than disordering large swaths of the personality. It obviously crops up later in sexual relationship aspects, but it’s more like being afraid of water after nearly drowning than just being uncontrollably angry at the world.

On the general side (and the Christian take), Pride & Sloth come to mind. As one with Will practically sticking out of my ears, I really have little understanding for how some parents operate. But, at the same time, I understand I took responsibility for my own life long ago, and part of the fruit of the Spirit is self-control.
