I am a little late with getting there, but Korora, which smooths out the Fedora experience, is now out. I use the Cinnamon version: It is a nice compromise between Gnome 3 and MATE, and generally works. On lightweight machines, I would suggest using the xfce version.
I have got all the tools I need working in this environment — including Spotify, which is fairly easy from a Korora base.
This is not the most fancy Linux OS out there. Nor is the most integrated into cloud ecosystems (which I consider a bonus). But it is up to date, does the job, and cinnamon is not, unlike both kde and gnome, annoying.
And this system, in my hands, is more productive than MacOS. MacOS is far more productive than microsoft, but that is not a difficult task.
