Sometimes I love my country, and despise the left. I have to drink sufficient caffeine to fully engage whatever shred of diplomacy and grace I have. For in our liberalism and progressivism, we still have a few rags of decency, and the Green party, which could, given the train wreck which is the Labour party, become the opposition, want to re-open the issue of abortion to “be honest” and “remove stigma”.
The Green Party will decriminalise abortion and assert the right of women to make decisions regarding their own health and the wellbeing of their family or whanau.
Abortion is currently a crime under the Crimes Act. It is only legal if two consultants agree that the pregnancy would seriously harm the woman’s mental or physical health or that the fetus would have a serious disability.
Decriminalisation will reduce the stigma and judgement that surrounds abortion, and enable abortions to be performed earlier in pregnancy, which is safer for women“The Green Party trusts women to make decisions that are best for them and their wh?nau/family,” Green Party women’s spokesperson Jan Logie said.
“The Green Party believes the time has come for New Zealand to take an honest approach to abortion, to treat it as the health issue it is, and remove it from the crime statutes.
“The fact that 99 percent of abortions are approved on ‘mental health’ grounds and that rape is not grounds for an abortion reveals the dishonesty of the current legal situation.
“By keeping abortion a crime, New Zealand has created an unnecessary stigma around abortion that has led to delays, erratic access to terminations depending on where you are in the country, and unnecessarily late terminations.
Well, yes. the Greens witter on about clean rivers, and green jobs, but are not about that. They function more like control freaks from hell. Let me translate. We want to clearly state that we consider human life without dignity, nor with value, and we will encourage young women to damn their souls, make themselves un-marriageable, so they sacrifice their children to Molech.
The current Contraception, Abortion and Sterilization Act in New Zealand dates back to 1977. It has not been touched, for most politicians are sane. They know that re opening this debate will invoke rage. There are too many victims. Most religious oppose the death of the inconvenient. However, the left consider this a brilliant tactic, because they think it will split the right along libertarian and religious/conservative lines. They are laughing like thorns burning, as their percentage of the vote diminishes.
I do not see this as a New Zealand issue. I note that the Democrats, who used to be competent in their progressivism, are equally tone deaf and disengaged from their working class origins.
The working man and woman used to be more decent and honourable. He may be sitting in the pews, but he thought independently, was generally faithful to his wife, a good father, and did his duty to God, family and crown. All these have been removed from the current politically correct discourse.
So be it: but we must not be like them. Our duty remains.
Let love be genuine. Abhor what is evil; hold fast to what is good. Love one another with brotherly affection. Outdo one another in showing honor. Do not be slothful in zeal, be fervent in spirit, serve the Lord. Rejoice in hope, be patient in tribulation, be constant in prayer. Contribute to the needs of the saints and seek to show hospitality.
Bless those who persecute you; bless and do not curse them. Rejoice with those who rejoice, weep with those who weep. Live in harmony with one another. Do not be haughty, but associate with the lowly. Never be wise in your own sight. Repay no one evil for evil, but give thought to do what is honorable in the sight of all. If possible, so far as it depends on you, live peaceably with all. Beloved, never avenge yourselves, but leave it to the wrath of God, for it is written, “Vengeance is mine, I will repay, says the Lord.” To the contrary, “if your enemy is hungry, feed him; if he is thirsty, give him something to drink; for by so doing you will heap burning coals on his head.” Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good.
(Romans 12:9-21 ESV)
We do not have to live as our government, or those who control the education system, or the media want us to. That elite, which I sometimes describe as the nomenkultura and Moldbug calls the cathedral, cannot legislate what we do in the privacy of our minds, even as they try to regulate our speech even in private conversation.
We do not need their permission to live as Christ wants us to, and we will not beg their forgiveness. If that means we join our Arab brothers and sisters in wearing the crown of martyrdom. the let it be. However, we are quite aware that the Muslim ruler is as crude as the most terrible Russian despot and uses the mob, the pogrom and terror as his tools, while the progressive pretends that he is reasonable, sweet, light, honest and liberal while in effect he is as destructive a fascist as those taking cyanide in a Berlin bunker in 1945.
So, you may say, what if I have erred and have a child on the way? Can I bear the shame?
Well, the answer is yes you can, and yes, you must. It will not be easy: but that inconvenient child may be the mother of your grandchildren. Not having the child — killing that child — is a fundamental betrayal of whatever covenantal relationship you have with the person you slept with. The stigma around abortion will always remain, because the act is evil: Sex outside the bounds of marriage, adultery, homosexuality are serious, but in my mind lesser. At least there is love there. There is nothing but coldness in terminating a pregnancy.
Whitewash, or even greenwash, only does so much. We have allowed much evil in this world, and the injustice of this cries out. It is far better to rely on the mercy of Christ and be saved, than ask for justice, and damn yourself.
_____________
Addendum.
I should add that having an abortion does not keep one from the mercy of God. It is not an unforgiveable sin. One can repent: many have.
Christ said all sins can be forgiven except against the holy spirit and the context is quite helpful: he had just been called the prince of Demons. By those who we would, in today’s world, call nomenkultura.
