They have no knowledge of Jesus’ actual temporal situation, in Roman ruled Judea, nor knowledge of the prophets, and indeed even have a flawed interpretation of the word “prophet”, one who speaks for another, and instead think of it as the ability to tell the future with certainty down to the exact time and place of an event.
I have heard people say that if Jesus was alive today he’d be a vegetarian and would want gays to be happy, etc. But the road back to the Garden is a narrow one and not always easy to stay on. Eden is not here on Earth and no amount of rationalizing will make real that illusion.
