Bleak Theology: Hopeful Science

Administration and Lectionary Collide.

After the last couple of days, life intrudes again. The sermon at equippers church was about praise getting you out of a jail. Needed, but that night there was a storm in the Midwest. And the power went out at the webhost.

(No, this blog is not hosted in New Zealand. Latency matters).

So instead of meditating on the word of God, and praying, first thing this morning I am looking up the webhost page and trying to work out why I cannot get in.

And then writing the blog post in a word processor, in the hope that this afternoon (it is about 6:30 in the morning now) when I’ve done the clinical work, I can post the lectionary at lunch.

Before I teach. On the epidemiology of suicide, now being promoted by the cathedral and their lawyerly minions.

A well-known gay rights lawyer and environmental advocate burned himself to death in New York City on Saturday in a grisly protest against ecological destruction.

The charred remains of 60-year-old David Buckel were found by passers-by in Brooklyn’s Prospect Park. Police said he was pronounced dead at about 6:30 a.m.

The Daily News reports that Buckel left a suicide note in a shopping cart near his body that said he hoped his death was “honorable” and “might serve others.”

The New York Times said it received an emailed copy of the note, which also said, “Most humans on the planet now breathe air made unhealthy by fossil fuels, and many die early deaths as a result — my early death by fossil fuel reflects what we are doing to ourselves.”

Buckel was the lead attorney in in a lawsuit involving Brandon Teena, a transgender man who was murdered in Nebraska. Hilary Swank won an Academy Award for her portrayal of Teena in the 1999 movie “Boys Don’t Cry.”

Buckel also served as marriage project director at Lambda Legal, a national organization that fights for LGBT rights, where he was the strategist behind same-sex marriage cases in New Jersey and Iowa.

This is the counsel of despair. The idea of noble suicide is a lie. It disavows one of the bleak truths: to be human is to suffer. You can only stop suffering if you stop being human, and create your own psychopathic hell.

Do not associate with any who lead people into such.

1 Peter 5:1-14

Now as an elder myself and a witness of the sufferings of Christ, as well as one who shares in the glory to be revealed, I exhort the elders among you to tend the flock of God that is in your charge, exercising the oversight, not under compulsion but willingly, as God would have you do it – not for sordid gain but eagerly. 3Do not lord it over those in your charge, but be examples to the flock. And when the chief shepherd appears, you will win the crown of glory that never fades away. In the same way, you who are younger must accept the authority of the elders. And all of you must clothe yourselves with humility in your dealings with one another, for “God opposes the proud, but gives grace to the humble.”

Humble yourselves therefore under the mighty hand of God, so that he may exalt you in due time. Cast all your anxiety on him, because he cares for you. Discipline yourselves, keep alert. Like a roaring lion your adversary the devil prowls around, looking for someone to devour. Resist him, steadfast in your faith, for you know that your brothers and sisters in all the world are undergoing the same kinds of suffering. And after you have suffered for a little while, the God of all grace, who has called you to his eternal glory in Christ, will himself restore, support, strengthen, and establish you. To him be the power forever and ever. Amen.

Through Silvanus, whom I consider a faithful brother, I have written this short letter to encourage you and to testify that this is the true grace of God. Stand fast in it. Your sister church in Babylon, chosen together with you, sends you greetings; and so does my son Mark. Greet one another with a kiss of love.

Peace to all of you who are in Christ.

We are not to worry, Peter says. Christ has won. The world can fall apart, as surely as a Michigan winter can destroy power cables. But we are secure in Christ. He cares for us.

Our despair, our anger, comes from seeing the world fall apart around us. Our shame from the recollection of the evil we have, and the damage we have done. But we are not to let this rule us. The accuser, the enemy, wants us to despair and then turn to degeneration and destruction.

But despair will not win. Christ will purify his church, and redeem it, and not even the gates of hell will remain. Our enemy knows this, and he roars as loudly as he can, calling all to join his satanic cathedral and converge with him.

So that their wrath and lust will be their destruction. This lawyer – let us pray for his family, grieving – has given us an example of what not to be, what not to do, and what fate to avoid.

For his is the fate of the minions of the false Cathedral of Satan, both churchian and secular. Do not be him. Do not be like him.

Brother Mundabor noted the same sad event, and adds his comments.

Turns out New York does not want to be left behind, with a lawyer (apparently a prominent figure in the demonic realm of so-called “gay rights”, which also prompt me to wonder whether environ-mentalism was the only trouble of this guy) choosing to suffer a horrible, public death by burning himself in a Brooklyn park.

Firstly, let us say that the probability of such a guy avoiding hell is so microscopic, and the way of his death so offensive to Christians, that I will not even say an eternal rest for this idiot. The Lord’s will be done. That’s why there is a hell after all.

Let us also reflect on the mental processes of these people: this guy was so dumb that he did not even realise that his stupid, selfish, satan-inspired act would actually help normal people understand what kind of nutcases we are dealing with here. And by the bye, his horrible suicide actually caused a lot of pollution. I hope he had the decency to at least offset the CO2 (forget all the other poisonous gases and substances) before burning his useless self to death in an impressive staging of the very hell awaiting him.

Thirdly, this one was no lone wolf, but a professionally functioning person inserted in a working environment. It’s like watching those documentaries about Nazism, and wondering how otherwise normal people could have such selective derangement. This is what brainwashing does to otherwise sane people. Satan at work. Disquieting.

Satan is getting more obvious as the time is getting short.
