One of the first consequences of the fall was the implosion of the first family, and not by divorce. The firstborn of Adam, Cain, killed his brother. There is a special form of pain when a parent buries his child: it is not the usual order. To make it worse, it was murder.
Cain is the forefather of all those who consider themselves privileged, who think that the laws to not apply to them, and that they have a magic sign that prevents them from suffering the consequences of their actions.
Evil waits for the families of the righteous. Though the parents seek God and are gifted, even if they stand, their children can fall. Not all, but some.
And when Cain’s offering was not acceptable, he killed. For he thought that he could make the standards of what was good, and he could be as God.
His line and generations later died: they did not survive the flood. But his ideas continue, and have worsened. For our time is fallen, and the narrative is coming for our children.
1Now the man knew his wife Eve, and she conceived and bore Cain, saying, “I have produced a man with the help of the LORD.” 2Next she bore his brother Abel. Now Abel was a keeper of sheep, and Cain a tiller of the ground. 3In the course of time Cain brought to the LORD an offering of the fruit of the ground, 4and Abel for his part brought of the firstlings of his flock, their fat portions. And the LORD had regard for Abel and his offering, 5but for Cain and his offering he had no regard. So Cain was very angry, and his countenance fell. 6The LORD said to Cain, “Why are you angry, and why has your countenance fallen? 7If you do well, will you not be accepted? And if you do not do well, sin is lurking at the door; its desire is for you, but you must master it.”
8Cain said to his brother Abel, “Let us go out to the field.” And when they were in the field, Cain rose up against his brother Abel, and killed him. 9Then the LORD said to Cain, “Where is your brother Abel?” He said, “I do not know; am I my brother’s keeper?” 10And the LORD said, “What have you done? Listen; your brother’s blood is crying out to me from the ground! 11And now you are cursed from the ground, which has opened its mouth to receive your brother’s blood from your hand. 12When you till the ground, it will no longer yield to you its strength; you will be a fugitive and a wanderer on the earth.” 13Cain said to the LORD, “My punishment is greater than I can bear! 14Today you have driven me away from the soil, and I shall be hidden from your face; I shall be a fugitive and a wanderer on the earth, and anyone who meets me may kill me.” 15Then the LORD said to him, “Not so! Whoever kills Cain will suffer a sevenfold vengeance.” And the LORD put a mark on Cain, so that no one who came upon him would kill him. 16Then Cain went away from the presence of the LORD, and settled in the land of Nod, east of Eden.
It is worth noting that Cain was the grower of vegetables, in part because there are so many vegans now who act as priggish food nazis. Because the low fat, high carbohydrate diet that we are recommended to eat makes us fat. Because what is obvious to any biologist — when we do Genome wide studies we have to factor out race and sex because they are not signal — is now hate speech.
The mark of Cain was washed off in the flood. The mark of the narrative is washed out by truth. Stephen Pinker, by the way, is horrified, because young people are not invested in #goodthink sufficiently to continue as drones. Most young people do not want to be Cain. They would be in the line of health, not murder.
Our society has become so insanely politically correct that asserting basic empirical truths is now hate crime, and many people do not even know these facts at all, and when confronted with them are shocked.
Take the issue of biological differences between men and women, especially differences in the distribution of female versus male IQ, as I have discussed here. These facts about IQ and the biologically-determined physical, cognitive and personality differences between men and women explain why women do not have much interest in the hard sciences, or any great presence in that field. Instead, the field is dominated by men, just as men dominate sectors of the economy where hard physical labour is required, and this is almost entirely explained by biological differences.
As Pinker says, the explosion of the popularity of the Alt Right is in part explained by the outrageous suppression of such basic empirical truths like these. But Pinker doesn’t go far enough. The rise of the identitarian right is also explained by the obvious catastrophe of mass Third World immigration and in particular mass Muslim immigration.
What do we need to do? Pray, pray harder. For our children.
We were woken early by one of them today, and once you are parents, you worry for them. At all times.
So we may be not like Eve, weeping for her murdered son.
