Notes on the meme wars.

Today we are told we will give account for every careless world. In the next life. For we have to watch out for those who are liars, who will not produce anything good. I generally find that those who talk about justice and inclusion and fairness ensure that they and their children live in a bubble, well away from the mess which is the post industrial society.

Though it is not an excuse, our speech is regulated. But those who preach such regulation do not hqve such. They spend money on monitoring the twitter feed and facebook posts.

Look not the words. The sophists will twist means, and use illogic, for they are deluded. They do not care if their policies do not work: their ideology says they are perfect and so they will worship them. Look instead to the consequences of their actions.

Matthew 12:33-42

33“Either make the tree good, and its fruit good; or make the tree bad, and its fruit bad; for the tree is known by its fruit. 34You brood of vipers! How can you speak good things, when you are evil? For out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaks. 35The good person brings good things out of a good treasure, and the evil person brings evil things out of an evil treasure. 36I tell you, on the day of judgement you will have to give an account for every careless word you utter; 37for by your words you will be justified, and by your words you will be condemned.”

38Then some of the scribes and Pharisees said to him, “Teacher, we wish to see a sign from you.” 39But he answered them, “An evil and adulterous generation asks for a sign, but no sign will be given to it except the sign of the prophet Jonah. 40For just as Jonah was for three days and three nights in the belly of the sea monster, so for three days and three nights the Son of Man will be in the heart of the earth. 41The people of Nineveh will rise up at the judgement with this generation and condemn it, because they repented at the proclamation of Jonah, and see, something greater than Jonah is here! 42The queen of the South will rise up at the judgement with this generation and condemn it, because she came from the ends of the earth to listen to the wisdom of Solomon, and see, something greater than Solomon is here!”

There is a war going on. It is rhetorical: it involves the hearts and minds of people. There are attempts to regulate such — facebook took the following meme down (during the election). Adern, our new prime minister, wants to make abortion a woman’s choice (technicall it is not in NZ law — procuring an abortion is still a crime except under medical conditions). The truth is now too hurtful to remain.

We can look to Canada to see how this will end up.

Ontario’s legislators passed a bill criminalizing pro-life speech and expression outside abortion clinics today by a vote of 86-1.

MPP Jack MacLaren, a member of the Trillium Party, cast the sole dissenting vote.

PC Conservative MPPs Sam Oosterhoff, Monte McNaughton and Rick Nicholls were not in the House for the vote.

The far-reaching Bill 163 automatically outlaws all pro-life activity — including sidewalk counselling and showing “disapproval” of abortion — within 50 meters of Ontario’s eight abortion centers, a distance that can be increased to 150 meters on request.

Bill 163 also allows hospitals, pharmacies, and healthcare facilities that do abortions, including providing the abortion pill — to apply for “bubble zones” banning all pro-life activity of up to 150 meters.

Individuals convicted of breaching Bill 163 face a fine of up to $5,000 and jail sentence of up to six months, which increases to a fine of up to $10,000 and a jail sentence of up to one year for a second and subsequent conviction.

Campaign Life Coalition blasted the Ontario MPPs for passing the bill.

“This law, which was drafted by Planned Parenthood and their allies in the abortion business, using feeling-based anecdotes and hearsays, lacked any real evidence that backed their claims of the war-like atmosphere outside abortion facilities,” said Jim Hughes, national president of Campaign Life Coalition.

“This law is the first step in silencing and criminalizing speech that is not the official opinion of the state. The whole process of fast-tracking this bill, and slandering pro-life people throughout, was a shame.”

Look not the the words of our leaders. Look not the their rhetoric. Look to the conseuquences. For people will lie. Their words will be sweet and reasonable, their policies poison. I have seen so called conservatives act in a destructive manner — there were Tories in Canada who voted for this swingeing restriction on our freedom of speech — and there are were some leftists who were righteous. But the righteous in the left, and now the conservatives, are being purged for badthink.

We should not care. The gospel is badthink: acting righteously is now a crime. And the ancients will rise up and damn us, for we had the gospel and it many have rejected.

Be among the remnant who do not do so.

  1. I did see something positive about your new PM recently. It had something to do with restricting real estate sales to locals and keeping absent foreign owners out. Found it.

I did not know that about abortion in NZ. Woudn’t it be best to leave things well enough alone, from a purely political standpoint?
