Kim Davis, Scotus [James 5]

OK. here is my five cents on the current situation with Kim Davis. To give you the background, let’s start with RSM, and let’s ignore Kim Davis as a person. She apparently is onto marriage number four, and the petunias are calling hypocrisy because she is following her conscience (she has converted, apparently recently, and is a member of the Apostolic Church) and the will of the people of Kentucky

A court clerk in Kentucky want to jail because she would not issue a marriage license to a same-sex couple. Keep in mind that, in 2004, an amendment to the Kentucky state constitution defining marriage as one man and one woman was approved by 75% of the voters. To this fact, our nation’s liberal elite answer: Damn the voters, damn Kentucky and damn Kim Davis for thinking that her religious beliefs should be respected. The liberal elite — in particular, Justice Anthony Kennedy and four of his Supreme Court colleagues — have decided that Christian belief must be forcibly eradicated, and that the voters of Kentucky are not fit to govern themselves. Therefore, Kim Davis is a criminal.

This is what our nation’s liberal elite demands in 2015, because the liberal elite believes in a radical egalitarian ideology in which only those who are deemed “oppressed” have any influence or protection in American society. The law must judge every conflict according to a simple question: “Who is the greater ‘victim of society’ here?” The victims always win, and therefore the only way to “win” is to present yourself as a helpless loser, in order to demand that “society” give you whatever you want as compensation for your oppressed condition.

Now, many are saying that Davis has taken an oath and is honour bound to complete it. Not so: otherwise all the generals hung by the Nuremberg court will stand up at the last day and bear witness. For they were given orders, and they followed them. But since they were immoral, they were damned for their actions.

So what shall we do? Well, perhaps not swear at all: but more importantly see this as a time of opportunity. The enemy is surrounding us. We don’t have to aim much.

Be patient, therefore, brothers, until the coming of the Lord. See how the farmer waits for the precious fruit of the earth, being patient about it, until it receives the early and the late rains. You also, be patient. Establish your hearts, for the coming of the Lord is at hand. Do not grumble against one another, brothers, so that you may not be judged; behold, the Judge is standing at the door. As an example of suffering and patience, brothers, take the prophets who spoke in the name of the Lord. Behold, we consider those blessed who remained steadfast. You have heard of the steadfastness of Job, and you have seen the purpose of the Lord, how the Lord is compassionate and merciful.

But above all, my brothers, do not swear, either by heaven or by earth or by any other oath, but let your “yes” be yes and your “no” be no, so that you may not fall under condemnation.

Now, I am not American, I am a Kiwi. And any adult can marry any other according to NZ law, But there is a conscience clause: you cannot demand that a church or person marry you. The PCANZ has stated that no person can be accepted for training unless celibate or in a loving (heterosexual) marriage and banned ministers from marrying same-sex couples, within the church or without. Some liberal twits rebelled against this: this was lauded by the press.

In NZ Davis would not have been convicted of contempt. She may have appeared in front of the human rights commish (but that has no teeth, and is routinely mocked).

Which brings us away from homosexuality and to theology. Marriage is either covenantal and for life with divorce rare and a cause for the church to mourn and seek repentance, it is who you desire this week. There are either rules or no rules.

The biblical position is that there are rules, and that marriage is for life. THe marriage is about children: consider the parents of John the Baptist, who grieved that they had not children. It’s not about being necessarily understood, or even loved: consider Leah, who was rewarded with children because her husband was busy chasing her sister.

This is being used hy the SJW as a means to silence Christians, and disqualify them from public service. So be it: but the stink from the Supreme Court of the US does not reach to NZ, and the correct response to their inane casuistry is scorn.

What the elite forget is that this conflict is for souls. They have lost their sense of smell, they stink. And when one place is silenced, another will arise.

Holding the moral high ground means that if your job becomes untenable because of moral conflict you quit. That is an unfortunate reality.

The overall thrust of the post is correct though and things are not going to get better for Christians any time soon. That is the way of the world. If it were not so we would have to look at the state of Christianity and wonder if we are too close to the world for people to be challenged.
